In a move that should surprise nobody Kelvin Sampson is no longer basketball coach at Indiana after some serious NCAA violations were
discovered in the program. He took a $750,000 buyout and as part of the deal loses the right to sue Indiana over his dismissal.
The exact way he was going leave Indiana was a very fluid situation behind closed doors all day with one option considered being a suspension for the rest of the season and then resolving the situation at a later date, that fell by the wayside when it was decided
that an immediate seperation was the better option.

<< <i>Why would they have to "buy" him out? With the rules and regulations he broke, he did this to himself, why should he be compensated for that? >>
They must have figured that there was a good possibility of a lawsuit which could have dragged on for years and probably cost much more than the $750,000 they are paying to get rid of him with the stipulation in the settlement that he could not file a lawsuit.
While it is someone distasteful paying to get rid of him it quickly ends the situation in a prudent way financially..
