Questions about Jimmie Foxx Ball

I am looking to sell a baseball with an authenticated Jimmie Foxx signature. This is a great ball but does have a problem. I bought this ball thinking it was a single signed ball. I then had it authenticated PSA/DNA G61715. Apparently the ball has had signatures erased to give it the appearance of a single signed ball. The Jimmie Foxx signature is authentic and looks great as you can see through the certification verification link at PSA/DNA. I don’t do this for a hobby and I apparently had just enough information to make a bad purchase. I bought the ball for $2,000 thinking I was getting a good deal. The more I read and investigated I now realize it would be a miracle to make my money back. I am looking for a buyer and honest feedback on how much I could expect to make on this ball.
Thanks!
Keith

I think I would talk to the auction houses. They can show nice clear photos and word the description in a way to downplay the erasures.

As far as what it will sell for? It's worth more before the signatures were removed, kind of like a card with a rough edge is worth more before the edge is trimmed off. My guess would be between $700 and $1000, possibly less but probably not much if any more.

I would think that you would have grounds to go back to the seller with your new found information and work something out.
  • I would be happy to sell it for $1,000 if someone wanted it or if they knew someone that wanted it. If I were to go to an auction house, would I be able to get a certain minimum dollar amount or would it be totally up in the air and I would have to take what ever someone bid? Sorry if that is a dumb question, like I said, this is not a hobby of mine. Thanks
