If memory serves me correctly most if not all of the team was pictured. I can not specifically recall an Eruzione (sp?) though.

I have that subset somewhere. It includes Ken Morrow, Rob McClanahan, Mark Johnson, Mike Ramsey, Dave Christian and Jim Craig. Dave Silk might be there too. There was never a card of Mike Eruzione because he never played a game in the NHL. Other sets had Neil Broten ('82 OPC) and Jack O'Callahan ('84 Topps/OPC).

By the way, today is the 28th anniversary of the USA-USSR game.

I don't remember any specials, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. These were my favorite.

  • Very nice, Sagard!

    Don't forget Steve Christoff!

Those are very nice cards, these are what I was talking about. After finally seeing the movie I thought I would check Ebay for some graded ones, though no luck:

  • Probably one of my favorite cards ... Thought it was a strong candidate for a 10.

I bought it for a buck on eBay.

That is a sweet Christoff. Back when Richfield had hockey. Good card. I suppose there is no Broten from that set because he went back to the Gophers before going to the NHL.

The Christoff Auto was in my scans in one of the middle sections.

I remember the Russian game was tape delayed and going to be on late. The local news posted the score but wouldn't talk about the game. As a nine year old I was dreading the whole game that the local station had the score wrong. Finally when the USA took the lead I was pumped! The Finland game was a horror flick for two periods.
  • Thanks.

Richfield dropped hockey? A buddy of mine played there. Graduated in '86, I think.

Do you have the Miracle on Ice HBO special? Still gives me goosebumps.

I enjoyed beers with Neil Broten at a Halloween party in the mid-eighties. Very normal. Typical Minnesota guy. A friend of mine worked with Sally Broten at some Cystic Fibrosis foundation.

I have that and also have the movie "Miracle". Both give me goosebumps every time I watch them. I still remember being 7 years old and my parents letting me stay up to watch the game. They bought a new TV that year to watch the Olympics on, LOL.

I gotta say, I'm completely mystified that they didn't include the full USA/USSR game as an extra on the DVD release of "Miracle". It's a Disney movie, ABC owns the footage of the game and is a Disney company - what's the holdup? Why hasn't it gotten a separate release of its own? Or any of the other games from that year? What the heck?
