  • the 1967 set is mine.

not only because of its appeal, but the fact that it is a very tough set to complete due to the high numbers....

In the USA all men are created equal but some are more equal than others....
  • My favorite non-auto set is the 2001 Fleer Greats of the Game All-American set. Its a 14 card set that includes: George Mikan, Wilt Chamberlain and other greats. I have about 6 full sets of these cards, I love the color on them.

  • Man, do I love the psychedellic 1972's!!!! Have three complete sets. The 'In Action' cards are fantastic.
Always looking to trade 1957 to 1971 baseball cards!

Easily my favorites, but also frustrating to find in nice condition. Been upgrading a raw set for years.

  • OK, I'm strange but I love the 1982 baseball sets, all 3, Topps, Donruss and Fleer. Each one was simple, but classy. As for 'vintage' stuff, the 1954, 1960 and 1972 Topps baseball sets are just good looking cards.

I love all the 1948-55 Bowman football issues...but I think I would go with the 1948 as my favorite. I know there is the National Chicle set...but the 48 Bowman was really the first mainstream, large set of football cards. I love the smaller size of the cards, and I like that they are Black and White...not colorized pictures. I love the pics of the players with their leather helmets and vintage looking uniforms. They just seem "old" looking...true antiques.

Since most of you have seen the stars of the set, I will post a few of the non-stars of the set.

My favorite Baseball issue has got to be the 53 Topps set! My favorite is the Eddie Mathews card, the young looking Eddie Mathews in this card just breaths 1950's baseball! My favorite baseball era..

    image
  • 1951 Bowman Baseball and Football...also, 1965 Topps. I got halfway through a 1965 Topps NM set, then ran out of steam. The set's future is now in limbo.

I've also always liked the art-deco sytle of Diamond Stars.

  • 57 is what I collect obsessively, and 53 Bowman color is my favorite set. One goal one day is to actually own the 53 Reese in exmt or better.

Ah - easy one - my T3 set.
Very hard to complete in any kind of decent shape - mainly due to the cost!

  • Some very nice cards everyone.

My favorite sets are the 1914/15 Cracker Jacks.

I also like the Mayo Cut Plug, Turkey Red, and the 56,59, and 63 Topps sets.

Mike, those T3s are outstanding! My favorite baseball sets are probably '53 Topps, '41 Play Ball and '52 Bowman. I imagine if I could afford any of the T3s than those would be high on the list as well.

My favorite set seems to change quite a bit. I would have to say the 1969 Topps Baseball set. It has Mantle's last year and Reggie's first. Both guys are favorites of mine.
  • I love 1950 Bowman,1956, 1957, and 1976 Topps and 1984 Donruss.

    Thanx Chris.

Interestingly - of the modern sets - the 53T set is my favorite also - tho I've never attempted to do it.

I might consider it some day - probably in about 5 or 6 range.

    !969 topps baseball.

It may be boring. It may have horrible pictures. It may have bad attempts at airbrushing.

But, that set got me back in the hobby so it will always have a little meaning to me.

Yeah, I wonder why. image But seriously, now that my dream set of 1975 is only about a dozen cards (three raw, rest graded) short of completion, I guess my next dream set would be 1971. In fact, once I get 1973-79 all finished (with the keys in PSA 7), don't be at all surprised if I skip over 1972 for the time being and go right to 1971.

Since no one has shown any 19th Century cards
I'll post a couple from a set I'm currently working on. The 1887 N284 Buchner Gold Coins
I average picking 1 or 2 up a month so since the pickings are slim, I really appreciate
adding any to this set, here are a couple of Hall Of Famers...jay

Besides maybe 1992 Manny, I can't think of any other topps cards between 1992-2000 that I really consider "classic", and i think topps designs went downhill after that, so 40 years seemed to be a good place to stop.

In answer to the other questions, yes, all are either manufacturer certified, or PSA/DNA. I have replaced a few since then, just haven't upgraded the scan. 1978 is now PSA/DNA Murray, 1986 is now PSA/DNA bonds, 1980 is now PSA/DNA rickey henderson, 1987 is PSA/DNA Palmeiro (i have 87 donruss psa/dna maddux), 1970 is psa/dna pete rose, 1968 is now Topps ARchives Nolan Ryan, 1953 is topps stars mays)

I would guess if i had to pick favorite sets, i would go with Turkey Red, All Goudey, Topps 54, 56, 58, 60, 65, 71, BOwman 50,52.

And this being my all time favorite looking vintage card.
