Stan Musial Auto

So I have been lurking for a while and posted just a couple of times. Through information given by many different members in a couple of different threads, I started looking at TTM auto's. Well, I'm a big cards fan and that love was instilled by my father so I thought it would be cool to send some cards out. I first sent some to Whitey (Who wouldn't love him!). He returned two vintage cards, I can't remember the years off the top of my head but I think one is a 59' and one a 60', in like 3 days both were returned and signed with a blue sharpie. I do live in St. Louis so that helped the turnaround but wow! The thing I regret is not sending him a couple of cards to have him sign as the manager of the cardinals. I think I will rectify that in a couple of weeks. The 83 topps manager card is one of my favorites.
I then sent a 58' all star and a 61' to Stan Musial (by the way, acquired both addresses, the rat and stan-the-man, from sportscollectors.net based on recommendations). Now, in reading some of the replies, it is usual for Stan to return the cards unsigned but sign a postcard. Not this time my friends!!!! Both signed in blue sharpie as well. What a way to start a TTM collection.
Not a penny given to both but I did send the envelopes through Priority Mail to have my envelopes stand out from the rest. I was just wondering if anyone else does this? Also, how do you know how much cash to "donate" to the player to incent them to sign your cards?
Now, I don't know the value of any of the 4 but I will guarantee that not a' one will be sold on ebay. I am actually thinking about giving my dad one of the Musials. Even though he is not a collector, he definitely appreciates the collectability of them and I actually bought him a 58' all star (non-graded because I was 14 at the time, now 34 and restarting my collecting habits) a while ago for his birthday.
Once I figure out how to post images I will post pics. Could anyone help?

Congrats!!!!
Giovanni
and welcome to the boards
I can't help but feel a bit sad to see how his sig is starting to deteriorate due to his health. Count yourself a VERY lucky man to have received back 2 free sigs from Mr. Musial. To be 87 years old, not in the best of health, and to take the time to sign and mail back for free, Stan The Man is a class act, no doubt about it!
I'm a fan of signed cards - tho I don't collect them.
Thanx for sharing

I was fortunate enough to meet and shake Musial's hand at a signing. Great guy.
