Favorite autographed subsets

Here are examples of my favorite autographed subsets. 1999 Century Epic Signatures, 2000 UD Legendary Signatures, 2005 UD Heroes, and any of the Topps Archives. Anyone else have examples of their favorite autographed subsets? I am mainly a baseball collector but any sport would be great to see!

Cool thread Barry. I have always liked 1994 Pro Line Live as a my favorite set. Plus the auto subset is really great too

  • Been building this set for awhile. A lot of great names...just too bad they're sticker autos.

    Both awesome sets!

Matt, if I was to do Football, that one just might be it. The action shots are great and I like that there are no borders...colors are awesome!

GS, cool names in that set! Personally, I try to stay away from sticker autos as mcuh as possible because I believe that someday the glue will end up drying out and they will peel off. Really too bad cuz that's a cool set!

    Great discussion idea Barry.

I'm partial to the early UD cards that started the whole craze.

And some sets I like would cost a fortune to complete.

A fun set because of the card design is the Topps Fan-Favorites.

    image

To be honest tho - I've never thought of trying to complete a set in a particular year - guess I have enough projects.

Barry, Matt and Ray - very nice autos! Auto cards are my favorite insert! None even come close.

    Major turnoff? Those pesky STICKEMS!!!!

  • Hi, I will probably start collecting Baseball autographs at some point, but for now its Basketball. I do have one Baseball auto of Brooks Robinson with his inscription "Hoover" numbered to 99, but thats the only Baseball at the moment. I don't have that hoover scans, so I will show some Basketball for now.

Bob Knight with an inscription HOF 95 and serial numbered to 25.

    image

Patrick Ewing serial numbered to 50. I hope he makes it into the HOF this year, I only try to collect HOF members.

    image

Coach John Thompson numbered to 100.

    image

Coaches Larry Brown and Lenny Wilkens dual auto numbered to 5.

    image

These 4 cards are some of my favorites.

I absolutely love the Archives/Fan Favorites! I love the players they got to autograph, the photos, use of old styles, and no stickers. I probably have 100 or so autos from Archives and Fan Favorites. Guys from Atlee Hammaker to Dave Winfield. I have opened some neat ones but none of the ultra rare or double auto'd. I like popping for a box or two when I find them at a reasonable price.

Though who you can hit for autos is limited on the 2005 Heroes, I cant stop buying those either when I find them for the right price.
  • 2005 UD origins and old judge. ON card too!

2007 Bowman Heritage Signs of Greatness...on card.

  • I really need to catch up on some scanning! The different sizes from some of the ebay scans is pissing me off!!!! The Chipper and Crawford Origins auto are my scans by the way.
  • There aren't many big names in it, but I LOVE the look of the 2006 UD Future Stars autos. The cards are plastic and clear. The only problem is stupid sticker autos which I loathe.

  • How could I forget my 2 Spurs. I have a George Gervin and David Robinson, both numbered to 25.

I got these 2 from the same seller from China. Got a pretty good deal because nobody would put the first bids on both, I guess people are not to crazy about buying in China or something.

Nice on-card autos! Heritage/Bowman are great for on-card autos. Most go beyond what I am willing to pay for the player...Im sure because of popularity and demand. Because the autos go so cheap for the most part, Im thinking of starting to start this set...

    Thanks man!

I almost didn't get it. I was interestead in the Gervin, but since there were no bids on the Robinson too, I said to myself, I might as well save on the shipping while I was at it.

    Great cards all!

Along the lines of the 94 Pro Line set is the 1994 Pro Line National auto. This by far is my fav. It's in my set graded a 9.

One of the earliest auto insert sets, 1992 fleer ultra reggie white. I have 8 of the 10, can't seem to get the last 2. They're not flashy and they don't show him in a Packers uniform but I like them anyway image

I have been collecting the Exquisite Enshrinements every year from 2004-2005 when it first came out. My favorite autograph subsets. Waiting to see the 2007-2008 design. I like they are always limited to 25 each and on card autos.

  • As a collector of vintage Basketball I truly love the Auto Inserts of players who by no means are headed to the Hall Of Fame but were"Legends" to the fans who followed the Sport. (Love that "Jungle Jim Loscutoff" auto)

  • Mike your auto of Buck O'Neil just reminded me of what a travesty it was that this man was not elected to the HOF and especially now that he is gone. Shame on the voters for dropping the ball on this one.
  • Been a huge fan of the UD Legends Football scripts...here are a few that I own....
