<< <i>4) Ebay "senior management" commented that "eBay's homepage looked like a flea market" and he didn't like that! Damn man, it was founded as a place to sell Pez Candy dispensers! "It" has been successful and made a lot of people a lot of money even if "it" looks like a flea market! I've bought some damn good stuff at flea markets (AND on eBay) and if management wants "it" to look like WalMart or JCPenney they'll do "IT" under in due time! Wake up shareholders and see what is happening to your company! >>

Hell, eBay should call themselves "The Global Flea Market"... that's what I (and most people) like about it! This guy, despite repeating the urban myth about the Pez dispensers, which has since been dispelled, does have a point. If I wanna shop at JC Penney, I'll go to JC Penney. If I want global flea market bargains, I'll go to eBay.

But only as a buyer- I have been selling less and less. Not so much because of the fees, but just... because.

<< <i>THAT, IN A NUTSHELL, IS WHAT IS GOING ON.

I WILL NOT BE LISTING ANY ITEMS FEBRUARY 18TH THRU THE 25TH IN SUPPORT OF A "WORK SLOWDOWN" (STKIRE) "VACATION"!

PLEASE LOOK FOR MY NORMAL LISTINGS TO RETURN FEBRUARY 26TH! >>

Yeah, sure, dude. IF eBay doesn't NARU you for that little stunt.

I still have yet to figure out what this has to do with Roosevelt dimes? image

the Questions and replys are classic - and since they involve a 1967 dime and possibly sending it to PCGS I will see how much I can copy B4 getting tired

    Question & Answer Answered On

Q: Hi Jim, I was thinking I'd bid on the shirt but decided to wait and buy another one after the new Feedback policy goes into effect so that I can get it for FREE by saying I didn't get it and having feebay issue me a refund from your bank account. Or, I could say it was not as described and demand a "substantial partial refund". Then I'll neg you and you'll have to leave me beautiful Positive feedback even though eBay and I have both SCREWED YOU. image Have a good day now! Barbie (he he he) Feb-23-08
A: Barbie...please bid! Remember: This shirt is a "one of a kind" item and may not even exist when the "new enhancements" go into effect! I promise I'll leave glowing feedack for you the day it ships so you can still NEG me and leave me crappy DSR ratings! I really, really want to get used to receiving Negs before the "real thing" starts in May! Thanks! Jim

Q: Okay, I'll bid since as a buyer I don't have to pay any fees at all and I can leave you a negative feedback AFTER tring to get a few new shirts out of you, claiming it was broken when I received it, asking for my money back without sending the shirt back and generally making your life as a seller a living well, you know. Oh and as a buyer eBay will stand behind ME no matter what you say. HA! Yes, I think I'll bid on the shirt off your back but I want you to ship it for free. eBay says you have to. Feb-23-08
A: Gosh, I can't miss out on the "love" associated with a guaranteed negative feedback on the horizon now can I? How about I ship it FedEx so you can have it in your hands next day OR I can ship it SAME DAY using small package service from the airlines --- airport to airport! I'll even kick in the cost of a courier to deliver it SAME DAY from your local airport to your residence! WHAT A DEAL! With all this a less-than-negative feedback rating with 4.5 DSR's would be very much appreciated! Let me guess, don't hold my breath!

Q: hello what a coincedence my name is also jim i could sure use the shirt off your back but because of the new ebay fees i canot afford to bid on it at this time. your support help section is not at all farfetched as i went through it with ebay myself for 9 months over and illegal removal of the hoodia plants see my 9 months of emails with support here http://www.hoodiasusa.com/jiimzquestforebaysprohibition.htm god bless all ebay sellers and good bye to power sellers who whos days are limited. Feb-23-08
A: EBay "customer support" is so canned it is not even funny anymore! If you need "customer support" you are in reality "on your own"!

Q: This wouldn't be one of those "flea market" type tshirts would it? I heard The incoming CEO for ebay "Dumpahoe" calls ebay that (and anyone that buys and sells here ) You know, what made ebay famous....If he wore it I would love to own it, a piece of history and all..if this was his, would the off white color be caused by sweat stains beneath the arm pits? if so would they have been pre boycott or after? Thanks! Feb-23-08
A: Unfortunately, "big John" does not appreciate fine clothing from Fruit of the Loom as it would be below his stature! The sweat stains are mine and are from worrying about all of the eBay changes and "service enhancements" that are coming soon! It's still a nice shirt and has plenty of miles left on it! Would be great for wearing when opening up your items from A M A Z O N or E C R A T O R or O N L I N E A U C T I O N S . C O M ! Fortunately, there are other venues out there that actually WANT OUR BUSINESS as a seller AND buyer! Thanks!

Q: How many holes are in the shirt? I was born in a leap year, but not on a leap day. Does that qualify? My rating is under 100, but if I add this rating to my other ids, it adds up to more than 100. Is that good enough? Feb-23-08
A: Thanks for your interest! Besides the "standard" four big holes there are AT LEAST 3 other ones that are about 1/8" in diameter (thats 3mm for our international friends). The small ones could be repaired if you so desire --- "free" if it helps get positive feedback for me! Combined feedback achieving 100 is great as is the leapyear birth year!

Q: Hi Jim...I sure appreciate what you're doing here and support you and others who are making a statement about eBay's second major price increase in recent months. One can only wonder what they are thinking when they make radical price increases to the price structure that made them a household word. Each fundamental increase to eBay/Paypal/Shipping expenses eliminates groups of products whose traditional price spreads will no longer support eBay's growing share. When eBay demands more they fully realise they are taking it from their sellers. Buyers are certainly not going to suddenly start bidding higher. It was particularly insulting that the increase was hidden in this "good news" announcement. They must be taking lessons from the federal government. Gary Feb-20-08
A: Gary....Thanks for your comments. I think there is a term for all of this: it's called "Killing the goose that laid the golden egg!"

Q: Hi, I received "IT" in the mail today, I thought you would ship sooner and the Express mail guy was weird, why did you send him to my house? The auction description mentioned a few holes in "IT", I thought you meant there were holes like for my arms and my head, what are the other holes for? Holding this shirt next to a new shirt this one is certainly yellow and does not look as though it was ever white, are you color blind. I am going to have the DNA on "IT" checked against the DNA on the stamp you licked to see if it indeed is yours and I expect you to pay for that. I will send the 1967 dime to PCGS and if does not certify MS-70 I will be requesting a refund on the dime as well. I will withhold my feedback for the whole 60 days so you better hope the DNA lab and PCGS are really quick with the results or I will be forced to leave you a negitive on day 60. How come you you did not send my the 1974 dime like you promised that other bidder? Will you send it express, I hate that guy.Joel Feb-19-08
A: Gosh, sorry about the post office guy....some of them are just plain spoiled with all those days off they have! The DNA on the "T" and the stamp should match but you know how things get "mixed up" and the wrong people can get convicted --- happens all the time! The shirt WAS white the last time it was washed ...maybe six months ago...I thought "sorta white" WAS a good description...guess I was wrong, as sellers usually are! Think we can compromise on the grading service for the dime? Maybe Accugrade or PCI? The 1974 dime must have fell out of the package so I'll send you the rest of the roll and you can pick one out for yourself! I sure don't want NO NEGATIVES so I'll offer to make your boat payment too if that'll help!

Q: Jim: What you said here: "The problem I see coming is people just leaving negative feedback "for the fun of it" knowing they can't get neg'd back even if the seller complied 100% with the auction and provided excellent customer service (there are some real mean people out there in eBay land (both sellers and buyers" is just what I thought of the moment I read of the feedback changes on the website a few weeks ago.I was "burned" once ~7 yrs ago and still have that 1 neg.I,too, generally leave feedback the day I ship an item, but I may change this. My business for the past 4 years has been mostly restored buffalo nickels and I, like you, have many repeat buyers. But, you're right. You never know when a buyer will leave neg. feedback (under the new system) just for the "fun" of it. Now, we,as sellers have no protection against this. But,hey, if I wait 1 day until the 20th, my 99.9% feedback will become 100% and I can bid on the t-shirt. Mike Brister (weatherbuff2) 2/19/08 11:40A est
A: Mike ... oh yeah! I carry a negative due to an insane buyer that did not purchase postal insurance and expected me to eat the loss! It has been on my record for years and I finally got my 100% rating back when eBay "rounded up" on the %'s! Ebay has a knack for "fixing" things WORSE than they were when they started! The feedback system has been broken for a long, long time but these changes ARE NOT A FIX! The changes are not even a bandaid! Ebay needs to institute an arbitration panel and let each buyer and seller present their case and let the facts speak for themselves. Unfortunately, this is not going to happen as it is a system that cannot be automated! NO BUYING, NO SELLING, NO B.S. FEB 18TH THRU THE 25TH! By the way, go ahead and bid on the shirt if it'll make you feel better! 99.9% is close enough! THANKS!

Q: I have a couple of questions, before I place my bid. What color shade white is this? Eggshell, chalk, cottage, wicker, etc? What are the exact measurements?inseams? What is the diameter size of the holes? Does the shirt have any funky odors? What kind of marker did you use(the brand & shade of black)& what style & size is the font? Can I have a 1974 dime instead of the 67?And I'll need more pics-close up of front, back & sides. It will be free shipping outside the US too, correct? I know your auction says only money orders, but since I have no money-I'll have to send you an e-check through Paypal. I'm the buyer and I make the rules. There won't be a wait for clearance right? You'll have shipped it yesterday correct? Also, your buyer requirements mean nothing, since AGAIN I'm the BUYER & I MAKE THE RULES. 1 out of the 3 ain't bad, since I was born in a leap year. And I'll leave you one star for each section + a beautifully written negative ;-) Ha, ha- great auction- BOYCOTT VICTORIOUSLY! Feb-18-08
A: Gosh...with that sure thing of a negative feedback coming (yes, I CAN FEEL THE "LOVE"!) I'll just give in and offer world-wide EXPRESS MAIL shipping, or better yet..how about FedEx? I can do a 74 dime with no problem...better still ...how about both the '67 AND a '74? I aim to please --- at any cost --- cause that's that eBay wants!
