What sort of feedback comment should I leave ?

I won a few coins at vey good prices this morning on Ebay.

The item description states that if a winning bidder is bidding or watching a few more coins of the seller then to mail him to defer payment until the bidder is ready to pay.

I have a bid on 1 more of his coins and am watching several more so I send him an Email saying that I have a bid on one more of his coins and am watching several more of his coins.

I also asked him for a postage quote to the US as I was thinking of shipping these coins to a dealer to send to PCGS to be graded and slabbed ( and perhaps a nice photo as well ).

Anyway the reply mentioned:

1) If I win the coin I am bidding on ( auction finished this afternoon ) then to pay asap, since I am a new bidder on his items ( I have 100% feedback on 172 ) as other people have appearently not paid him in the past. The coins that I am watching, if I bid on them and win, will have to be paid for seperately.

2) He will only post to Ireland. He send out an invoice already with a quote for shipping to Ireland.

Oh yeah - he asked me to abide his 'rules'.

I found this a bit OTT.

If the transaction turns out well ( I receive the coins, coins are as described etc etc ) then I see no problem with positive feedback but I'd like to leave a short note warning others of this.

What do you think ?

    Marcel,
I can see why he wouldn't ship to a different address than what is on your record. I have had several ebay and non-ebay dealers tell me the same thing. IMO, that's something you probably should have asked prior to your bidding.
Regarding the other issue about paying before your bids are complete .... ????... I don't know, seems kinda picky on his part.
  • I had no time to ask about shipping.

The items finished at about 8:30 this morning and I bid on them late last night.

I had a bad night sleep ( I was on here talking to Mac at about 4 am my time ) due to the baby so I was wrecked this morning and didn't wake up till ten ( I am normally not that lazy ).

Sure I can understand the address issue as well but perhaps he could have explained it kinder. Instead it came across like 'you do it my way because I said so !'

He isn't asking me to pay for the items that I am bidding on. He wants the money for the items that I won now and if I win any other items then he wants the money for them then ( ending times for the items vary from now till about Wednesday/Thursday ). His description tells it differently though.

I guess I have an issue about his attitute more than anything but I guess that comes with Ebay territory.

  • Having been burned twice by sending coins to unconfirmed addresses, I can see the reason for the seller's reluctance to send your acquisition to a non-confirmed address. Too many immoral buyers are aware that they can use any excuse to get their PayPal payment refunded and also not return the coin. eBay/PayPal will do nothing to assist the seller. The seller not only loses the coin but also pays all the associated selling fees. Unfortunately this has become all to common on eBay.

If you are unhappy with this seller, I would be tempted to pay him for what you have already aquired and move on. His loss.

  • Hi OB - you are an interesting poster - 647 posts and you joined in June 2002.

You don't have too much to say but when you do its worth listening too.

I had decided not to purchase anymore items from the vendor after receiving his Email and like you said as well, it's his loss. image

Feel free to posts more often if you like. image
