Parcells continues house cleaning of Dolphins with an eye toward the draft

Zach Thomas is the latest to be let go, earlier in the week QB Trent Green and wide receiver Marty Booker along with seven others were
cut loose. This suggests to me that Parcells will probably trade that #1 pick for multiple picks later in the draft, Jerry Jones is reported
to be interested in making a deal for #1. Stay tuned.

  • Its going to be an interesting draft this year. I suspect the Pats also want to trade down from #7. I see a lot of day1 trades happening.

I trust Parcells in being able to make the deals.

I would absolutely trade the #1 pick and drop a bit while picking up multiple picks.

  • I can see Zack in a Pat's uni!! We have all the other ex-Dolphins, might as well take him too.

Good move of houscleaning, its painfully obvious that was needed in Miami.
  • Is Beck the guy? If not, wouldn't they want Ryan and hence not trade the draft pick?

The Dolphins obviously have a great need at QB but also in so many other areas as well, I think it is too much of a gamble taking a
QB #1 when you can get help in so many other areas as well by trading the pick for multiple draft choices later in the draft.

The best bet IMO for the Fins is to copy and paste the drafting strategy of the Patriots the past years. Draft the best OL/DL they can get their hands on and go from there.

I build, as Sir Perks stated, starting on the OL/DL and then work on multiple guys for the secondary.

That's why you trade down the #1 and pick up two 1st rounders (if everything works out along with another 3rd or 4th or something) and we already have two 2nd rounders. That way, we pick up four of the top drafted players. It doesn't guarantee anything, but it helps to have fresh legs and folks going for starting spots right from the get go.

The QB spot can be handled by Beck or a journeyman (see Trent Dilfer) if need be. But, you need to build on the lines.

    Dolphins pick McFadden

Dolphins trade McFadden to Dallas for Marion Barber, their two #1 picks, and a 3rd rounder.

Could very well happen, I hear that Jerry Jones is obsessed with getting McFadden and if so he will probably do whatever
it takes to accomplish that goal.

If Dallas gets McFadden, they will have major salary cap issues within the two years.

They will have over $100MM tied up between McFadden and Romo...

    edited to add:

It's because they both have ties to Arkansas.
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

I think Jerry might be letting his old ties cloud his better judgment if this causes salary cap problems in the future but he wants to be in
a Super Bowl NOW so reason goes out the window....

yep, that's been circling around for a couple of weeks. I think Jerry Jones is way too enamored with McFadden considering how good Barber is, and the Dolphins would be stupid to not take that trade if it is indeed offered.
