1922 W573 strip cards - Anyone know anything about them?

I posted this on the vintage page, but figured I'd ask here as well to hopefully find some info on these...

I just won an auction for some 1922 W573 strip cards and don't know much about them.

Can anyone tell me:

1. Are they real? (not sure if these were reprinted etc.)

2. Did I get a good deal? (didn't think I did too badly for $22 bucks delivered, but looking for opinions on the cards and book value)

They're the black and white version of the E120 American Caramel set - sold in strips of 10 for a penny.

Based on the way they're cut - some may only be graded as authentic - not sure on any of that since I've never dealt with strip cards myself.

Based on the players - my guess is that most thought these were reprints - and I'm leaning in that direction.

If not? Nice buy - even if they only get the authentic grade.

Thanks for the E120 info Mike...in looking at some of the E120's on Ebay, they all seemed to have printing on the back as well, yet the ones I purchased were blank backed...Any idea if blank backs were a legitimate variation? Thanks again-

Don't worry about authenticity; those are the real deal. While W573s have the same fronts as E120, they were issued blank-backed. The 2008 Standard Catalog lists VG examples for these typical Hall of Famers at $60 each. Looks like a decent buy to me.

They are indeed blank backed but have been found with advertising for a company on the backs.

I hope they're the real deal!
