But Clemens says that Pettitte misunderstood the conversation and that Clemens was talking about his wife using HGH.
Can this whole mess get any more bizzare? Answer: probably.
It will be a media circus on capitol hill today.

<< <i>A Well, I knew that the congressional hearings were
going on. And I thought for sure that someone was going to
come up to me, a reporter, and start talking to me and
asking me questions about it. And I was going to go ahead
and just admit that, you know, I had used HGH when I had
used it. And so we were, you know, in spring training in
Tampa -- I'm sorry. In Kissimmee, Florida, when I was with
the Astros. And I got Roger and just asked him, I said,
dude, what are you going to say if anyone -- if any of the
reporters ask you if you had ever used HGH? And he said,
you know, he said well, what are you talking about? And I
said, well, you had told me you had used HGH. And he said,
I never told you that. And I said, you didn't? And he said
no. I told you that Debbie used HGH. And that's -- that
was the end of the conversation right there.
Q Was he referring to his wife?
A Yeah.
Q Debbie.
A And between '99 and '05, I mean, those 6 years is
the only two conversations that I ever recall having with
Roger Clemens with regards to that.
Q What was your reaction to what he said?
A Well, obviously I was a little confused and
flustered. But after that, I was like, well, obviously I
must have misunderstood him. >>
Kinda different when you read it in context, eh?
I do believe Pettite told the truth, but that does not mean he was not confused or remembered something he misunderstood. It was very vague even if Pettitte's testimony is taken at face value. Again, there is no real proof of Clemens HGH use in that instant. You need a lot more than some vague corroboration.
While Clemens' testimony had some holes or inconsistencies, MacNamee's had even more.
If Clemens was lawyered up before stepping in front of Congress, his lawyer staff did a terrible job in coaching him. They should know to keep the story straight and make sure the dates match. Either the lawyers were awful or Clemens was nervous in front of Congress (which is understandable, since this was his whole career on the line).
I think Clemens is still not doing well in the court of public opinion, but the "evidence" against him is vague and not enough to prosecute in any type of court. I think MacNamee and Clemens are going to get off free after all unless something else unfolds.

He is outright lying about Mitchell contacting him. What makes you think he's not lying about this?
Unless you have your blinders on...

How convenient of you to leave off the incriminating conversation that Pettitte has with McNamee about Roger using. So now we have statements from Pettitte's wife of the conversation and a statement showing his discussion with Roger being passed onto McNamee. Give me a break stown.
No it doesn't I see you conveniently left out the part of his deposition where he Pettitte tells McNamee that he found out that Roger was using and McNamee says who told you as he was upset and Pettitte tells him that Roger told him. McNamee then goes on to tell Pettitte that yes Roger used and he supplied. Later on in his depostion Roger explains to Pettitte that he misunderstood, that it was his wife that took HGH. Of course we know Roger is lying because she didn't take it till much later after he had told Pettitte he was using. Read the complete statement.click on pettitte pdf

I don't understand your point, IM. The link I provided above comes directly from the Oversight Committee. Click the link and you can read everyone's sworn testimony.
The "conversation" you are mentioning was one sided, as I said in the other thread. McNamee was upset that Clemens wouldn't endorse his vitamin for free and was venting to Pettitte. Sounds like McNamee had an agenda for a while, IMO.

Grammarian usually has little to contribute to a discussion and possesses few effective weapons. To compensate, he will point out minor errors in spelling and grammar.
