Wow, I haven't clicked BV's link yet. I know most blank back Ripken rookies are suspect and the blueless ones are " new' but this is cornfusing.

Here's an old article on the blank back counterfeits

    link
  • Considering all of the Ripken related cons out there maybe I need to expand the counterfeit coverage to include the 1982 issues.

I reviewed his psychotic TOS, read the listing details, and looked at FB left/rcd.

I would not buy anything from that seller.

As an attorney, I can't help but to be investigative sometimes. So after looking at that item description (and thinking oh my gosh! - who in their right mind would read all that), I decided to do some homework, more so because Laguna Beach, California is about 15 minutes from where I live.

    1. Googled "Laguna Beach Auctions" and found his website here: Website for Laguna Beach Auctions
    2. Click on "Contact Us" and saw that Laguna Beach Auctions is incorporated, e.g., "Inc."
    3. Went over to the California Secretary of State website and looked up, "Laguna Beach Auctions" and got a hit here: Corporate Info for Laguna Beach Auctions
    4. Saw that Laguna Beach Auctions is a SUSPENDED corporation, which means "[t]he California corporation has lost all rights and powers for failure to meet statutory filing requirements of either the Secretary of State's office or the Franchise Tax Board. "
    5. Saw that the agent for Laguna Beach Auctions is "William Raffio."
    6. Google "William Raffio" and "Bill Raffio" and saw his name pop up on www.AuctionBlackList.com as a "Approved Seller" here: "Approved Seller"
    7. But also allegedly committing fraud by not paying the proceeds from a sale of a Mercedes here: Alleged Fraud Re: Mercedes

All in all, I would avoid. Or you could win one of his auctions and then tell him you'll send payment as soon as his corporation is no longer suspended.
