Is this Lemieux a fake? (Another card added)

A guy wants to sell it to me for $75. It is an OPC. I know there was a whole discussion about fakes on here, but I wat some opinions. It looks red around the borders to me. What do you all think?

  • I know my fakes. Card is a fake a mile away. I can see matrix dots on the upside down yellow
triangle from here. In fact, you can see little red matrix dots all over the yellow in his uniform.

Read here on how to spot Lemieux fakes.
  • Here is another from the same guy. What do you think?

  • It's a fake also. You can see the red dust-like edge on the left side.
The black line surrounding the card and the triangle outside of the penguin does not look solid.
It's look like matrix dots and jagged. The overall quality/color of the picture does not
look right as the original. As I said earlier, if you can see little red dots (hard to do)
layered over the uniform in the orange area and over his face, and in the upside triangle, it's not a good sign. It's hard
to study from scans, but try to ask yourself.....if while looking at a decent scan, does the card have an appearance
of a sheer thin pantyhose screen. I know that sounds weird; but it's the closest thing I can think of which gives
it the appearance of those red dots on the surface as the first example you presented.
Most raw OPC Lemieux (well centered) offered on sleezebay are going to be fake,
otherwise they would of already been graded. If you're looking to buy raw, you're asking for trouble.
Here's a scan of what an OPC should look like and you can compare colors, the black line surrounding the
card. Look at the solid orange of his uniform and the triangle. If you want one, pick up a PSA 9, 8 or whatever
your budget allows you to do. If you're going to buy raw, I suggest you actually view it in hand and inspect
it with a loop. Good luck.

Border looks too thin to me. On the first one that is.
  • Actually, these cards are from a private collector in my area. He bought them from someone else, so that is a concern. He has promised my money back if I am not satisfied. I was thinking of sending the card to be graded immediately to find out the truth., but it could cost me for nothing I suppose. I think I will tell him no thanks. I appreciate the help!
