Do the Indians have a chance this year...

Just curious what everyone thinks.

sure they do. Boston, NY, and Cleveland have a chance. Maybe some others in the AL too.

It would be silly to think anything otherwise, theyhave a great core of players.

Standing pat while everyone else gets better? I don't think so. Detroit has the division locked up though they may slide in as the wild card.

They had their shot up 3-1 last year and blew it. Win one more game and they would've won the title. And before anyone asks, this is from a long suffering Tribe fan who will forever hold a grudge against Jose Mesa and Mike Hargrove.

  • of course they do. The best series of the playoffs last year was the Tribe/Red Sox, that was the real world series.

    the NL teams were pathetic!

I knew if the Tribe couldnt finish off the Sox in Cleveland it was all over...the Sox at home are nearly impossible to overcome in clutch time. The bottm line is that CC and Fausto were out of gas and didnt do a damn thing in the ALCS. Byrd and Westbrook pitched liked studs, but it wasnt enough. I really thought they should have used Laffey for one start (he's got great stuff, he's young and a little wild)

They needed one or two more experienced bats that werent going to feel the pressure.

Everyones a year old, a year wiser. Im looking forward to a year long battle with detroit, who certainly does not have the division sewn up. Will the real Dontrelle please stand up? he might win 15 games, but he'll sport a 5 ERA again.

    I still like their chances.
  • If the Tigers starting pitching holds up the Indians will be in trouble. Sabathia pitched close to 60 more innings (includes the playoffs) last year than any other year he's pitched. Recent historical data supports him having a drop-off this year. If those two scenario’s play out as facts, the Indians will be playing golf in October.

CC is not a big game pitcher. They should move him.
