Who here really cares about anything after FOOTBALL and BASEBALL

softparadesoftparade Posts: 9,276 ✭✭✭✭✭
I am just curious .... how many people in this forum really care about life after football and baseball. Maybe its just me with limited time in my life, I used to follow basketball and hockey but both are snooze fests after the big two in my life .....

To me, football is a game of passion - I love it!

Baseball whereby is the perfect summer game, sit outside or indoors and listen to a slow paced, interesting game along with stats, commentary, etc., relax and enjoy a cold one, and get a nice adrenaline rush thrill when a home run is hit.

I like football better, but I don't think it's really fair to compare the two games - they're clearly different in my view and fully intended to be different...although a guy like Ty Cobb, the way he played the game, might disagree. LOL

Basketball and hockey - great sports no doubt about it, but I just somewhere along the way lost interest in basketball, and was never really interested in hockey.

    -
  • If I could only wach one sport all year long ot would be baseball.

    1) MLB
    2) NFL
    3) Tie between College Footbal/Basketball
    4) A Little bit of golf.
  • For me its life after Football. I lost interest in baseball as soon as the steroid stuff came up, and basketball took its spot.

It is also a big factor that the only major sports team in my city is a basketball team. GO SPURS!!!!!!!
    Chinooks RULE!!!
  • Do they still play hockey?
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

Looking for Al Hrabosky and any OPC Dave Campbells (the ESPN guy)
  • Auto racing isn't on your list. After baseball, racing is my favourite sport. NASCAR, F1, IRL, Indycar, road racing, drag racing, sprint cars, etc. I'll watch 'em all. After those two, hockey, college and then NFL football, soccer and basketball near the end.

I love playing tennis, but watching it is about as exciting as golf, and either one of those two are terrible to watch.
    2001-2014 Topps Heritage complete!
  • Football - college and pro is #1

Baseball - only a passing interest from time to time, it is hard to get into a long grinding season of 162 games and playoffs that seem
to last almost until Halloween. I will go to a few minor league games this summer because they are only a few miles from where I live
and it is a nice way to kick back on a Friday night but I can't see taking the time and expense in driving all the way to Detroit to see
    the Tigers.

Basketball - the NCAA tournament can be exciting with the one and done format if you lose but I don't spend a lot of time following the
    sprort in general.

    Hockey - no interest.
  • I can't remember who said it (perhaps Bob Costas or George Will?)
but i think they defined it perfectly

    "Baseball is Americas background music"

Football is more passionate, but it only comes once a week, baseballs always there, starts in spring, lasts all summer long and fades away in october.
  • Again, you'll get different answers from Canadians.

Baseball and hockey are equally important to me, and I try to watch as many games as I can for each sport.

I like the NFL but I'm much more interested in stats than trying to watch a game, honestly I fall asleep during an NFL game at least 4-5 times per season.

I can't watch basketball anymore (was a die hard Celts fan in my teens), but I actually like to listen to the Raptors on the radio.

As far as golf goes, when a Canadian is in the running to win, it does interest me, and I'll admit I watched all of the final round the year Tiger won the Canadian Championship. Otherwise, I don't watch.

Nascar, not alot of Nascar fans up here as far as I know, probably has alot to do with climate.

  • i wish they played baseball 365. i'd have a game on every day. doesnt matter whose playing.

I'll watch playoff football, not reg. season games.
hockey and basketball don't do it for me.

I'll watch tennis (grand slam events)

I watch candlepin bowling image (weekends on comcast!) It's ridiculously hard to get high scores.

You mean you just want to go back to sleep again? Whats they point? image
  • Baseball, but only ever so slightly over football.

I used to watch a lot of hockey and some basketball, but I can't stand either anymore.
  • Your question was how many people "really care" about life after football and baseball.

I do enjoy baseball and college football the most.

I enjoy watching hockey, but there isn't as much passion as with the big 2.

Agreed about basketball. It's very boring to me.

The only other sport I care to see is world cup soccer. Very passionate.

Baseball is set deep in my heart. It's a father/son thing for me. It was an everyday thing
for me as a child. It was a hot summers night in my room with an antenna tv watching any
game I could find (back in the 70's). Baseball is great, live, in HD, or on the WII !

I will miss Football and be eager for Baseball season.
However, I may be the rarity on the board who loves hockey. Once the playoffs start I am watching games most every night.
  • My favorites are:
    1) MLB
    2) College Football
    3) NFL
    4) College Basketball
    5) College Baseball
    6) NBA
    7) Hockey
  • He's incredible, but Gretzky accomplished more in his sport than Woods so far.
Another 10-15 years though may change that.

Baseball nicely fills the gap when there is no hockey to watch. I lost all interest in the NBA years ago and it will not return until they make dunks worth -2 points. Football is still a great sport, but all the franchise shifts and my own moves left me without a team - and I would much prefer a meal of broken glass to rooting for the Cowboys.

    Go Stars!
This is for you @thisistheshow - Jim Rice was actually a pretty good player.

dallas ..... franchise shifts I can see. But WHO CARES where YOU move? image Hell, I could move eighteen times in the future and my team will always be my team .... I could move to Singapore and I will be somehow tuning in the NY Giants and New York Yankees !!!!!

    Basketball ...... who cares
Hockey .... its better then basketball but FOR ME its still a snooze fest.

  • College football is my passion. Hockey is not far behind, especially during the playoffs. The Lions could surpass hockey if the franchise could even spell "playoffs". Nascar is something to pass the time between then end of hockey season and the beginning of the next football season. Baseball is okay for background noise while I'm playing poker or for white noise while I'm sleeping. Basketball used to be a game I enjoyed, but the type of play /players marketed today don't interest me as much. Golf... fun to play, lame to watch. Tennis = geeks image

I couldn't agree more, that is my exact order as well. March is the best month of the year, Spring Training, Nice weather coming soon, March Madness, what more does a growing boy need?
