OT---Roy Scheider passes on

I can remember a week or so after Jaws came out to the theaters, me and my buddies went to Huntington Beach(CA) to go surfing. Everything looked like a frikkin' shark out there!!! If a piece of seaweed hit your foot below, believe me, you were checking for a fin attached to it!!!!

I remember him in SeaQuest. We used to watch that as a family on Sunday nights right after Earth 2.

or 52 pick up....where Roy is blackmailed out of everything and at the end has to give up his porsche. He rigs it so that all the doors lock from
the inside when the bad guy gets in and on the tape deck you heard Sousa's stars and stripes forever...at the end of the piece the
whole car (with the bad dude in it), explodes. Classic!

Right now I'm thinking of him playing Dr. Haywood Floyd in 2010, extolling the virtues of Yankee Stadium hot dogs.

A real pro, one that I will miss.

My personal childhood fave was Tiger Town- a little known Disney release from 1983 about a boy who goes to every Tigers game and 'wills' his hero (Scheider) to get hits and win the games. nice city montages from that era that really capture the atmosphere and spirit of going to the game back then at old Tiger Stadium. Year before 'The Roar'!!!

but still sucked.
