Selling stamps for face value

I'm a coin collector, but have $1200 face value in common stamps (mostly sheets) from 1940 to the mid 1980's.

What is the best way to get the most value, and what should I expect?

Should I just put them on eBay as one big lot? I've searched completed auctions and it seems you can usually get close to face value for stamps.

Thanks!

If you know of a stamp and coin store, see if you can trade for coins. There are some issues that are in demand (paying at face or slightly above), but I'm not a stamp broker; so unfortunately I can't tell you which ones are hot now. A decent stamp shop should be able to tell you though if you wanted to piece it out. Probably the easiest way to dispose of them is what you mentioned; stick them on eBay.
  • cucurbit - You will probably end up netting 75 to 80% of face for your sheets. The odd denomoniations and 3c and 4c stamps on the lower end of the scale because they are harder to use. I would sell as a single lot on ebay with an accurate count of how many sheets of each denomination. Good luck.
