Need Help with Identifying E-Bay Buyers ?????

Good Morning,
Invariably at least 6-10 times a week I get an envelope with a check in it for one of my auctions. No E-Bay ID, No E-Bay Auction number, No copy of Invoice included, No Info entirely, just a Name and address on a check. I have about 75-100 auctions end in an average week, so as usual I have to take 10-15 minutes scrolling through all of my ended auctions trying to match the check amount with an ended auction, with My E-bay displaying some of my auctions with the shipping and some without (Even though I send Invoices exactly the same on all Ended auctions: But that's a different subject). Anyway, so I spend this time, and the frustration level is just mounting. I don't get it, these clowns think I'm clairavoyant or they are the only person on the earth. Anyway, does somebody know of an easier way to do this??? I have heard soemthing about searching my ended auctions by Zip Code but can not figure it out.

Any Help ?
Thanks
Neil

  • Just put the money in the bank and don't even bother with trying to find out who it is until the clown complains, then you will know without having to research it.
  • lol
how about the return address on the envelope..

OR you can look at your ITEMS SOLD in the past week and match the final value= the amount on the check....

  • Don't take checks, paypal only.
  • Good day,
Most of the times all I have is the return address on the envelope, especially when they send me a Money Order with just my name written on it. I just opened my E-bay mail from yesterday and have two of them. And you can't just match up the money order amount with my auction ending totals, beacuse some of my auction endings show with shipping and some without shipping. ( Have never figured out the why of that )
And some people don't like to pay with Paypal and in fact I prefer not to be paid that way, I already pay E-Bay enough of my money for 0 service. And though I like the idea of just putting the check in bank and screw em, that's just not the way I do business.

  • One thing you can do is search ebay in your My ebay section. Scroll to items sold section, click on items not paid. This will rule out all those paid by Pay Pal, which should be the majority. Next hopefully the amount and date of the envelope will help. You can click on suspected auctions, which will give you the zip code on item screen, and further click to confirm address.

    I get 3-4 of them a month.

  • Or try the white pages for the city and match a name to the address. Then just give them a call and tell them they are a dumbA** and you need the auction number to complete your end of the transaction. It would at the very least get it thru their heads to send some type of info with their check.

You would be helping the world one person at a time.
Move along folks.......Nothing to see here.

The reason sellers are willing to pay for paypal's services is to avoid situations like the ones you're describing. If you're not willing to pay for the convenience that paypal offers, then you really have no right to complain when you're inconvenienced as a result of paypal not being used. If everybody paid you with a check like you prefer, you would spend your entire day tracking down what goes to who, and to me that's a complete waste of time and resources. I will happily give paypal their 3% to make my life easier.

I just looked on My Ebay and when you go to your items sold section, you can use the "Status" drop down menu and find the auctions where you are still awaiting payment. That will at least get the items out of the way that were already paid for and narrow it down some.
