Question: Westward Journey Nickels: Should they not be included in the FS percentage?

I have been thinking about this. Why are they included in the FS%? Lets put together a petition for us Jefferson FS fans, so we can try to not include FS in these 2 years. Thanks for anyone that answers. I'm new to the FS series, so If I sound stupid tell me, but 9% of the coins are Westward Journey and I'm all about higher percentages!

I didn't think they were included, but in checking they are. I thought they fixed the same type of issue with Lincolns and %red and the '43s. I hope they adjust their numbers as it makes no sense to have a percentage that cannot be 100.

This was fought over a few years ago... along with the request to stop the 65 to present set at 2003, and starting a third set at 2004 to present. PCGS didn't care at the time to stop or change the set at the time... Good Luck, but it's not gonna happen. They want those coins in a registry set... they need those coins in a registry set. Did I make my point?

I really think it would be a great idea to have a FS set for the 1938 to 2003 coins only. This way we don't have to mess around with the Westward Journey Nickels and all of the Satin Finish coins. It's really getting crazy trying to collect all of the business strikes and satin finish coins from 2005 on. image
  • Yeah your right I agree the 65-03 would be a good place to stop. Also the issue with business strikes and satin is always a hot topic, but there may be hope with the State quarters changing over. At least put the satin finish and business strikes together.

I thought the topic was what coins are included in the FS percentage, not the coins in the set. I have no problem with the set as it stands, but the % column should only include coins that can have the designation (which the 8 from 2005-2006 cannot)

Again, if your asking PCGS to remove the 2004 and 2005 coins from the set... you're wasting your time. PCGS believes since the base coin metal is nickel, the coins belong in the set.

The topic is determining the % FS percentage based on the total including the 8 coins that cannot be FS. No one is talking about pulling the coins from the set, just don't use their numbers in the % calculation. I would love to hear an argument as to why they should be included in the calculation.
