Limited Number of Vintage Cards

I've been reading the posts and rarely do I post, but as I've been reading, the complaints about the .5 grading system and the complaints about inaccuarate grades (I have them to, my subs that come back 9 look nicer then the 10's I buy on eBay), it occured to me that there are a limited amount of vintage cards out there for grading. Let's face it, except for the occassional attic find, most of the better condition vintage cards are in the hands of collectors. For the last few years, collectors have been sending in all of their premium cards in for grading. The amount of cards left for PSA or SGC or any of the grading companies to grade is dwindling every single day.

Of course there are many newer, modern cards that are being submitted as well. However, the numbering of cards is creating a reason for cards to not be graded. For instance, we look to the population reports to determine what a graded card is worth based off of the number of cards that have obtained that particular grade. When a card of a modern day player is numbered 1 of 3, there is little reason to grade the card. The scarcity alone gives it value. So many modern card collectors are not having their cards graded.

With that being said, if the grading companies do not give you reasons to resubmit (new grading systems, inaccurate grades) in time they won't have much to do. I don't know how many vintage cards (worth of grading) are still out there, but the well will dry up and there will not be enough room for many large grading companies.

I could be completely wrong, but it makes sense to me.
