I AM THINKING 2 as well.. maybe 3... like I said.. that crease looks worse then it is..

Because the creases/wrinkles are in such a prominent place I do not see this card in a 3 holder.

It does have nice centering and honest wear on the corners though.

It is still a nice low grade example.

Nice card, I would guess a 1.5 or 2. For comparison, here is mine graded a 2.

The card has two minor surface wrinkles that are barely visible across the face of the card from the right side across the chin and collar and two minor surface wrinkles that go from just above the name area to just below the name area. As you can see from the scans, you can’t really see them looking straight on, you have to tilt it at an angle to see them. None of these wrinkles break the paper or effect the back of the card.

  • that 2nd mantle is gorgeous by comparison. only a 2? thats ridiculous, surface wrinkle be damned, thats got phenomenal eye appeal.

might as well submt for a 2.5!

Were the wrinkles/creases on the 2nd mantle pressed out? If not then that card deserves to be in a VG holder.

PSA has automatically graded cards a 2 if they have creases/wrinkles that have been pressed.

how would a wrinkle get pressed out???
if there was evidence of that wouldnt it be considered altered?? and not in a holder..
  • WinPitcherWinPitcher Posts: 27,726 ✭✭✭
Nope, it is not considered 'altered' I guess they use a spoon or some other device, like a book or whatever. I have a 49 Robinson that had that done to it.
I don't know how mine was done as I did not do it, I bought it that way. Of course the seller made no mention of it. I bought it raw and submitted it a few yrs ago.

It can be seen in my collectors showcase.

  • OAKESY25,

Sweet looking card! I agree with most folks here. It looks like a 1.5 or a 2. Before the half-grades, I would've said 2 for sure. Regardless, it's a great looking example, regardless of its technical grade and will probably command a higher premium than others in the same grade. image

this may have been in a holder or something.. because it is pretty flat.. if you hold it up to light and
let the glare hit it.. it is totally smooth.. no bump or anything..
I tried to resize it so it wasnt so big so you can see what I meant about it not being that noticable as it appears

Even so, the wear on the corners makes this card a 2 as well.

and like the above poster mentioned because it presents so well it will prolly get more then some other 2's.

It is a nice honestly worn card.

    TennesseeBanker,

Yep, thanks for the card. I'm thinking about cracking it and resubmitting it for grading in hopes of getting a bump or two. Did you try that?
