    I have a Q, too.

What are some of the cards (player/#) that are worth keeping?

    Thanks.

They're a big pain in the ass.

In the lighting I have, it's hard to tell the difference unless they're at an angle. Went through my regular set and found a few I had missed mixed up in there. They don't come in every pack so it's real easy to miss them

Only rookies I've been seperating so far are Buckholtz and Pedroia (even though not a real rookie)

I'm presuming these are once again numbered ####/2008? I think Topps started this tradition in 2001, no doubt inspired by the one-per-pack Ultra Gold Medallion parallel inserts that started in 1995.

no these are just the ones with the gold writing instead of the silver on the front of the card.

not to be confused with the gold bordered cards # to 2008

Exactly. The gold "bordered" cards are #ed to 2008, but the cards with the players name and Topps logo in gold writing on the front are just confusing everything. So when Estil said "these" I didnt know if he meant the cards with the gold writing or the gold bordered cards.

I was thinking Estil was asking if the foils were numbered.

that is what I get for thinking again.

Prices for the Rudy card are all over the map.

Looks like it's not happening like it did last year on the Bush "error."

I picked up a series 1 set for just over $30 which included the Rudy variation. I may have overpaid just a tad, but I wanted to get the set crossed off my list.

Anyone else think this 2008 Topps cards are ugly?

    I sure do!
  • The drop down part into the players image for the Topps logo is GAY. It looks like the mouth of some hillbilly with only one tooth left on the top. Which reminds me - What a complete shame the 50th ann. set was. They chose THAT design to celebrate their huge achievement? What's with the white borders anymore? The new set would be much cooler if they all had the black parallel border instead of boring ass white. White is only cool back in the old days, when it didn't have gloss similar to what a techno club flyer would have.

  • I was told at my local card shop today (when I bought my first 2008 packs) that the cards with the gold foil logo are this year's hobby variation, the same as the red boxes on the back of the card were last year. They are packed 1 to a pack, unless you get the insert cards.
