Advice on buying an 8 reales cob

I have a small type collection of Mexican 8 Reales from the Pillar Dollar through the Cap and Rays type, plus a few of the early Peso types. I'd like to add a decent example of an 8 Reales cob, but I'm concrned about getting a fake, as it seems they'd be relatively easy to counterfeit. Any suggestions on what to look for? I don't want any rare varieties or a condition rarity, just a decent-looking example. My Pillar Dollar, for example, is an ANACS VF20, an I consider that decent-looking, since it shows the key details and has a nice original look to it.

There are quite a few available and I guess it depends on how much you were looking to spend. For around $100 you can find a nice, early 1700's Mexican cob in VF. For authenticity, just make sure you buy from reputable sellers. If you're looking for a slabbed piece, check-out NorthEast coins, but expect to pay big bucks. Perhaps Josh (Civitas) has something that would suit you in his store?
