In the truest sense, it is worth exactly the amount some one is willing to pay for it, as for book value I 'm not sure , but I think that you maybe able to look that up on Beckett's website, or at least I think you used to could have

If you want my honest opinion, I'd encourage you to buy a card with an on card sig. It will cost s little more, but it will be worth it. The release of National Treasures made a huge hit on the sell of Payton cut cards. With that being said, an even greater premium will be placed on the cards with on card sigs.
I lost it the auction at the last second. The on card autos of him are nice but this one was a beauty. >>
If my memory is correct, that card was also created using the same phone card autographs used for all of the Payton cut cards in the National Treasures set. The only real difference is that UD did a better job with their version.
For the record, you can buy the entire signed phone card for under $200.
You can get a certified autograph of Walter for a good price. However, if you're really wanting a modern day issue, I would really suggest the on card route. The only card a company can produce with Walter's autograph is with a cut. With that being said, prices will drop on cuts while on card will only go higher.
I got mine on this 81 for $140, A cut sig depending on what it is signed on, and how nice the sig is sell for close to the same or a little less in a lot of the BIN auctions. I would rather have the sig on the card by far. If you wait for an auction you should be able to find one for less than one signed on a card.
Amazing what they are getting on these hacked up autographed phone cards. Butcher it, slap it on some cardboard, number it and watch the magic happen.
I got mine on eBay for $51.00 delivered with some patience. Certified by Celebrity Appearances (same as the Walter Payton Foundation used) and much more attractive in complete form.
These things ain't exactly stunning complete, but they look simply awful cut up and slapped on a card in my opinion.
Never tracked them personally. However, considering what happened with the NT Cuts, I would expect that there's a much higher premium in regards to on card Payton autographs.

There are currently 2 of these online. One is in an auction and the other is in a store. Just do a search of "Payton phone"

I think the card wouldve looked alot better if they hadn't cut the top portion of his body out.
