guru-did you appraise this card i really dig the part about CARBON DATING ,now thats some funny stuff, he dint dig up a t rex jawbone hope he dont expect to get paid for it,hes in for a Major dissapointment, might even be a Colonel disapontment ,just what i always wanted, a 1,700$ fake worth 5 bucks or less
Y-206s- didnt that have something to do with the y2k fiasco when everybody thight the sky was gonna fall
In 1959, I went to a demonstration on the subject.
The guy had a piece of petrified wood about the size of a watermellon. He said the tests confirmed it was "millions of years old."
As part of the demo, the guy used a diamond saw to cut about 1/3 of the piece off. It cut pretty easy and lots of pebble-size chunks chipped off as the blade was going through.
Once it seperated, there was a three-inch iron nail laying flat on the bigger cut piece. Best case, the nail was a few hundred years old.
I am sure they do better carbon dating now days.
Folks Who Bite Get Bitten. Folks Who Don't Bite Get Eaten.
i expect they are driving the price up for him and going to watch him crash and burn with other ids ,look at the questios and answers, they are hilarious
I really don't think it's appropriate to "out" auctions like this. I had my snipe set early...now I probably won't win it since you brought it to everyone's attention.
In all honesty that looks like a similar copy to some fakes I bought back when yahoo had auctions. I bought them thinking they were reprints and the card stock looks very similiar. My seller was out of NC.
"I put my pants on just like you... One leg at a time. The differences is when I put them on, I make gold records."
Man, i wonder how much my 2 "old" reprints of Wagner & Cobb would go for !!
Geez, if you tell people the item your selling is a reprint and they fight to give you $1800,,,,, are you in the wrong for taking it,,, i don`t think so.
I don't see what the problem is either. The seller is clearly saying its not genuine, its a fake or reprint. Congrats to him for being honest, the bidders are the idiots.
Wow, that's is a horrible horrible card. Who would bid on that?! That's really crazy that someone would even put that up to auction. I guess there's all types of scammers out there these days.
Guru, some of his story is probably untrue, i`ll give you that.
But the guy states more than once that the card is a reprint. And as a buyer that should be all you pay attention too, and bid accordingly or not bid at all.
If he`s being honest about the validity of the card,, how is it a scam ?
Yeah, I went back and read everything. I just looked at the card the first time. I see now where he's saying things. Not necessarily a scam, but my gut says somethings wrong with this auction.
The problem here as i see it is the category the seller has placed this card in. It is not a card from that era and thus should not be allowed to be listed there. Ebay could simply create a category for these reprints and or cancel the ones that say 'reprint' 'forgery' (which this card is not) counterfiet etc.
The problem is ebay in this case and not the seller.
I like how he claims in one of his answers that he has paid multiples of the current bid for it.
I have no idea what the current bid was at the time of his reply.
It just completely baffles me why people bid so high on some stuff .
Seems to me if you sit here long enough and come up with something really original , you can put it on E-bay and probably become rich over night ?
The Vick card chewed up by a dog ,
Some cheese sandwich with the mother Mary's face in it ?
What else has there been ??
It is mind blowing because we can have some really rare and beautiful stuff and have to worry about taking a bath in losses and someone can come on with complete crap and hit a grand slam , it just defies all logic .
Are these people hoping the guy is wrong and the card is legit or is there some kind of value to a forged or reprinted card like this that we just don't know about ?

I agree. The problem is some bidders are to lazy or do not know how to read the descriptions. The title shoud be listed as reprint.

He seems pretty upfront with his details. It is clearly stated it is a forgery and yet some idiot tells him he can get sued? Do people read?
What is the problem?

Under the current EBAY scheme, ALL "fakes" must be marked
"copy/counterfeit/or replica." Your scan must SHOW that marking.
Fakes not so marked will be removed upon complaint. A written disclaimer,
NO MATTER how prominent, does not meet the requirement.
