about 5 packs in to a 4 box rip, Elsbury and this mini jersey thing popped up. There's quite a few apparently but it's really cool looking.
this one is # to 379. Didn't read much into this set beforehand so had no idea these existed. Nice surprise
and 2 packs later:
think the future star card is supposed to be a good pull and the Mantle is a nice pic this year

Edited to Add: Hi Mike.
<< <i>I paid $65 for the Upper Deck (16 packs/20 cards per) and $55 for the Topps (36 packs/10 cards per). Am I in the ballpark?
Edited to Add: Hi Mike. >>
Nick, were are you getting your boxes from? I would love to go check them out, and look for singles. I don't know of any card shop left on Staten Island, were are you going?
Sure I know the mall, but thats all they mostly sell there is boxes, they don't have many single Basketball autos that i'm looking for.
Giovanni
<< <i>Sports legends and Heroes on Giffords lane, near the Giffords Lane and Amboy road intersection. The guy's name is Danny. >>
Is that the guy who sells cigars too? Its next to a CVS? The CVS is not in the same lot, but the one across from it. I remember that store from about a year ago, if thats the one your talking about, if so, I didn't think he would stay open since all the rest of these card shops are closing like flies.
Thanks Nick!
I'll probably go check him out one of these days, and tell him Nick sent me Will I get a discount?
Giovanni
Edited to add: The guy that sells cigars in his card store is on Seguine avenue. No where near the place I mentioned.
still working on the 1st box and sorting as I go along. tough to see the gold type cards apart
nothing great over the last 8 or 9 packs
The rookie insert cards are really cool. Did pull a Dice-K I'll scan some of those in a bit. They're all based on different Topps cards
The 1st 25 are inserts and the next 25 are those card of the week giveaways.
<< <i>Nope. I told him to charge the guy that speaks broken English double. >>
Thanks
Giovanni
<< <i>I know the gold parallel cards are all gold and numbered to 2008, but whats with the cards that have just the players name and the word Topps in gold on the front instead of silver? >>
They're a pain in the ass, that's what they are

Hey, where's Rudy? Isn't he supposed to be celebrating with the Sox?
Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12
Looking for Al Hrabosky and any OPC Dave Campbells (the ESPN guy)
<< <i>Hey Mike. Were all 4 of your gold numbered cards from the Topps box in same hundreds column? What I mean for example is that my 4 gold cards are numbered 1864/2008, 1822/2008, 1853/2008, and 1853/2008. All from the 1800 area, with 2 the same at 1853. Very strange. >>
no, none of mine were even close to each other. I've seen what you are saying most times though.

<< <i>I bought 3 Hobby boxes for 55 per and filled the set. I also got 3 blacks in the boxes; Mantle, Rodriguez and a common. Those three were sold for 150. I sold the silly Guiliana for 14 and 2 of the Japanese "phenom" for 40.

<< <i>anybody with the name uzi in his name , i can dig him ,i was reading about him, hes justa kid!!!! >>
back of the card says he's 14 and can throw 104 mph
Not too bad IMO
think the future star card is supposed to be a good pull and the Mantle is a nice pic this year >>
Since no one has heard of the Uzi kid and he doesn't come up in Google, I think the card is just an advertisement for this...
Topps custom cards

team really enjoyed the prodcut. As you mention the Trading Card History cards were a great surprise and are actually very nice cards! a question for this message board
have you ever been surveyed or asked marketing questions from Topps in regards to future products? some of the things they put together (like the trading card history inserts) are great but some of them
(like this years mantle home run cards) i think if you polled 100 card enthusiasts would say they end up in the trash or in major commons box as fillers
anyway a great product and the base cards are very well done!!
J/M/O though , you know the old saying , they're like belly buttons , everyone's got one
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Interesting . . . If I were coaching the kid , I don't think I would be letting him throw 104 mph even if he could , How long could that arm possibly last at that rate quite undeveloped still .
Not saying that that isn't amazing or anything because I don't ever recall ever hearing of anyone that young throwing that fast .
<< <i>Bought some packs at Target...pretty nice cards...got the Guiliani error. Also got a game used jersey card of Ivan Rodriguez (2007 Highlights). If anyone's interested, let me know (will trade, or sell cheap). Also, if anyone's putting together the GOLD set I have Russell Martin and the Ramirez/Ortiz play off card. >>
Wats a guiliani error?? can you show me?
