    Maybe even $105

    Exactly!

If a drama queen is telling the story, then I would say $1500, but if i'm telling the story, than its $105! image

  • I look for it to go in Jeff Mullens collection if he's still at it....

Lots of "queen" talk from a guy obsessed with the short shorts era. Just callin' 'em as I see 'em...

The last I hear, he sold off most of his collection, but not sure about his Mikan's. image

I sincerly hope your joking Sport about this auction. The collectors that use this forum truly do not appreciate it or find it amusing when a item his represented to be one thing when in fact it is something else.
  • awesome! another crappy Menko image

Isn't he the guy that said the Menko would go for 20K, 30k or more?

This what we have come to expect from him. Hype then BS.

I find it funny how he claims he told people that he paid 'only 105' for the Menko (while the auction was going on) yet he was hyping it like it was as rare as the Wagner (his words).

Methinks he doth protest too much.

    Good for you.

Actually that Mikan bread label is very tough and quite desirable. Does PSA grade those? Unlike the Mikan menko, people are actually searching for this particular set
  • Is the bread label from his playing days?

    are you joking?

I have seen around 3 of those "Mikan" Menko, and they have gone for around 500-600 on ebay(I think I remember you buying the last one? from a seller from Japan? around +/- 2 years ago? ), So that is around how much I was expecting the Menko to go for

    Hey Mex,

I am not kidding. I recently purchased this Castello Menko:

    image

And I got this person who speaks Japanese to translate for me, the Costello, the Mikan and another Boxing menko, and he said the Mikan says "Football", not joke. You can ask any person who is Japanese and they will tell you. I always thought it said his name, but it turns out to be Football, lol.

Yeah I bought one of those that were up on ebay, but I didn't pay $500 for it or whatever they sold for. I got it for $105, and I still have a printout of that auction for my records. And I bought a boxing menko from that same seller I belive, or could have been another seller, can't remember, but I do know they came to me separate, so it could be 2 different sellers from Japan. The Castello I bought here in the US from an ebay seller for about 30 bucks.

    Giovanni

Edited to add: I forgot to say, no, it wasen't determined it was a Football player, lol, i'm just jocking there buddy, but he did say it says "Football" on it.

Why do you continue to buy Menko discs?

  • << <i>Actually that Mikan bread label is very tough and quite desirable. Does PSA grade those? Unlike the Mikan menko, people are actually searching for this particular set >>

Yep, sure it desirable. I don't think PSA grades this, or they just haven't graded one yet I guess? I don't think the Menko was that bad of a card, I actualy thought is was Mikan's best card period, lol, but apparently people didn't think it was, so what can I do.

I really belive that if more people would know more about that menko, that it would also be on many peoples want lists. Yeah, sure the bread labels are already known to the collecting world, but dosen't mean that the Mikan Menko is not a special card, it really is. image

I think there cool items, but the Mikan would free up some ok cash to buy other auto cards, so I sold that one. I have no reason to sell the Costello, or the boxing one, or any other one I get from time to time because I like it.

I figured there would be people looking for a menko with a player such as Mikan, so I thought it would do better than what it sold for, but i can't complain. Better than what I paid for it image

Mothra was neat, but I was always partial to Rodan.
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

HA! Funny stuff-I did an ebay search on it and FOUND a dvd titled "War of the Gargantuas" and picked it up for $20! Talk about a trip down memory lane! Good stuff!

BTW-Sorry to hijack your thread Gio!

This Mikan/Menko BS needed hijacking. Had enough of this scam when it was being sold.

Perk, Gigantor was a giant flying robot cartoon in the late '60's. About the same time as Speed Racer and Kimba the White Lion, and the precursor to Anime.
