The curse of Chucky begins. I should never have sent him away!

This has to be Knoblauch's fault. He can go traveling the country in a white envelope in a toploader with no penny sleeve and arrive to each location unscathed.

He is punishing me for sending him away all the while knowing I only did it to see how badly he would get trashed.

And so it begins; I received this perfect 2000 UD Legends Jay Novacek Jersey card the other day. Perfect except for the almost full length crease going down the right side of the cardimage It's tough to see the crease in the scan but you can see how the card is bent along the right side. The crack in the toploader is visable as well.

The card was was packed in a bubble mailer, between two pieces of cardboard, in a toploader and penny sleeve yet as you can see the toploader is cracked. The outside of the mailer showed no damage.

  • Dang, that sucks Matt. Sorry to hear that. If the curse is really going around a la Final Destination style, I better purchase a majority of my raw before he gets to me.

I had a card last year (thank God it was an Adam Dunn and not a McGwire. dont ask long story) that came in a baggie with some note from the USPS about how they were sorry, and some items, despite their best effort, get ruined in the mail. The card was a thick Jersey card like yours but #d 1/3, and it was creased in 2 spots. To top it off, there was green crayon shavings that somehow got in the bag, and they got mashed to the white sides of the card!!

Yikes! Reminds me of a trade I made over on the Beckett boards 4 or 5 years back. I traded away a PSA 10 UD Graded Jeremy Shockey auto rookie for a dual Ahman Green jersey card and a Joe Montana auto. The guy threw the two cards in a pwe without even a penny sleeve. Of course, the Ahman Green survived, but the Montana was basically bent in half.

    Good advice image

This is weird. The card was packed so good. I just don't get it.
  • That sucks, but why would you want a jersey card of a dude with a receding hair line?

Matt, here's one thing to consider and I know of one person that does this. You said the card, the top loader both show signs of crackage.....what about the cardboard pieces surrounding it? If the cardboard pieces and the bubble mailer look intact, then something is fishy. I only bring this up cos I knew of a person that sold creased or dinged up cards by damaging the holder it was sent in, and sometimes he would bend the mailer as well before dropping it off in the mailbox. All to make it look like it was caused by the PO or during transit. Yes it's true. These people exist.

    P.S. That's a nice porn tache

Anything is possible Bryan but I think this guy is legit. The reason I say that is the fact that I purchased two other cards from the same set from him a few weeks before this one. They too were packed well and arrived okay.

    Not very good Matt.

Sorry to hear that. Do you remember me posting about a T3 that came to me and had almost fallen out of the package and got scraped?

Actual scan of package the way it came to me.

The seller offered to pay for reholdering but let him off the hook.

Sending stuff thru the mail can be an adventure - who needs Disneyland!

Ah ha! So the curse of Chucky is valid.

You probably received this package about the same time you mailed that baseball card to yourself in a toploader with the stamp right on the toploader image
