Poll: Which box for my birthday??
Alright guys my 17th birthday is right around the corner, March 1st, and I'm probably going to ask for a box or two to open from my parents. I'm horrible at decision making and tend to take forever in this process, so I figured I would give you guys some of the say in my selection. I'm not going to make them drop a ton of money on it or anything, so I would like (more like that's what they said
) the total to be around $100 no matter how many boxes I get (1 or 2).
Here are the candidates (all prices from blowoutcards.com) :
2005 Diamond Kings-$49.99: 12 packs, 5 cards/pack. Guaranteed 2 game used and/or autos per box. 1 Insert per pack and beautiful base cards. Tons of retired guys with shots at some sweet pulls like: Tom Seaver, Duke Snider, Babe Ruth, Clemente, Gwynn, Lou Brock, Don Sutton, Ozzie Smith and tons more that I'm forgeting.
2006 UD Special F/X- $43.99: 16 packs, 4 cards per. Guaranteed 3 autos and 2 game used per as well as 10 parallels/inserts. The auto checklist is pretty weak, but there's still a shot at a Griffey or something plus it's still fun to get that many hits for that price. Plus, that high number of additional inserts is sweet. There are also some Dice-K World Baseball Classic cards in there as well. The cards are pretty sweet looking too.
2006 Bowman Draft Picks and Prospects- $91.99: 24 packs, 7 cards per. 1 auto and 1 relic per box. I love the shiny stuff but it's all too expensive for me so I don't have much of it. It'd be a lot of fun to pull some nice prospect refractors especially since a lot of the guys are clear cut busts or future stars by now. Some of the prospect autos I like/ are popular are Evan Longoria, Cory Rasmus (brave), Josh Butler (ray), Clayton Kershaw (dodger), Cody Johnson (brave), Justin Upton ($$$). Downside to this product is that this would be the only box I open....
2007 Fleer Ultra SE- $39.99 I just opened one of these a week or two ago and loved it. I doubt the next box of this would come anywhere close to the last one (Hafner auto and Pudge plate= $60). 5 packs, 15 cards per with 4 game used and 1 auto per. There are some decent autos out there but most are the rookie autos. The game used and inserts are straight out of the 90s and look great but don't carry much value unless it's a BIG name. I'd be content doing another one of these.
2007 Bowman baseball jumbo (HTA)- $50-$60something 12 packs, 32 cards per. 3 autos which is pretty sweet since they're prospects. Also have all the fun parallels for both chrome and the regular bowman sets such as the blue border vs. the blue refractor. I personally see this as one of the most fun breaks. LOTS of cards for little money which means I could maybe squeeze out another box of something else.
2007 Bowman Draft and prospects- $79.99 see the synopsis of 06 bowman draft. Only difference is guys like David Price, Jason Heyward, Matt Laporta and that guy named Joba.
Any other suggestions, and I'd be happy to take a look at it. This was just what I saw in the price range that I'm looking for that I've seen pretty decent breaks of. Sorry it was so long but for some reason I DO value you old guys' opinions.
Ok, class dismissed
Thanks.

Haha...unfortunately it was a google find. No such luxuries for me!

If you can't find it, I really don't know what to tell you

At least some of the cards might be worth something in time if you dont hit a big pull.
All the other cards from the other boxes will end up in a commons box (except the Barry Zito GU jersey and Ryan Klesko auto you'll pull)

Keep the votes comin.

Going to the beach, going to Dodger/UCLA games, hanging out in the backseat of cars in dark secluded streets, and absolutly not a care in the world! Oh the good ol' days! Enjoy my young friend!
