Gotta love Guru's mom & dad

So yeah, Guru's Mom and Dad are awesome. They knew that things were kinda down for him right now, so they sent him a care package which including a booster box of Topps '52. He pulled a Troy Tulowitzki rookie, Dice K Chrome, and 2 autos out of the same pack; Alberto Arias and Edwar Ramirez. Overall, he was pretty happy. Thanks Guru's mom and dad!

No no no...you've got it all wrong. Giovanni is between 19 and 75. Unless, of course, Giovanni is Guru's dad. If that's the case, then you've got it all right!

Edited to add: if Giovanni is Guru's dad, then, well, I guess it would all make sense!!

Further edited to add that I'm shocked Giovanni hasn't replied 4x to this thread yet and Guru hasn't replied yet that (for once) he didn't create this off topic thread.

    I agree.

I think it was a nice gesture.

Positive meaningful and substantive contributions seem to be in short supply in this forum right now - we could use more like Guru's thread.

Yes, I forgot. Posting a poll to ask if he should or should not continue to post endless drivel (in multiple threads) about his personal life that belong more on Oprah than this board is positive, meaningful AND substantive.

    My mistake.

I'm not gonna go long on this - you can PM me if you like - I haven't been back that long - for that I will apologize.

But, how does belittling Guru and the act of kindness from his parents thru a spoof thread help the situation.

Has anyone attempted to contact him and talk with him?

Maybe he's lonely or has issues? I don't know.

You're an intelligent guy - I think there's got to be a more constructive way to handle that situation.

    Just my feeling on this.

No mistake; most guys read/post on here to get away from the "day to day" drivel that our life brings us (dare I say an escape), although Guru's post are nothing but those things we come on here to get away from for a few minutes everyday in the first place.

    Mike,

I'm not here to argue, so I'll make a few quick points and move on. The guy has received a bit of feedback about staying on topic. He created a poll to see if he should listen to the critics or continue to post threads rivaling The Young & Thr Restless for drama. He then posted a thread to thank his parents for a box of cards, which in and of itself is fairly topical. He then posted a second thread with the exact same information. In and of itself, it's not a huge deal, however there are no less than 3 update threads about his personal job search. He's received feedback about that as well and is continuing with the pattern of behavior that has caused the criticism.

With all that said, he clearly doesn't respond to criticism. My post was an attempt at humor and funny or not, maybe it was also an attempt to make the point in a new way, since the old ways don't seem to make much sense to him.

Edited to correct a typo for fear that Giovanni would correct my spelling image

I totally see your point Craig.

But, threads like this only send the guy a mixed message - on the one hand you're wanting it to stop but on the other - it only draws attention to him once again - which is - perhaps - what he wants.

All I would like is to see this forum move in a good direction and again - I agree - it's not a personal blog and altho - we should all feel comfortable posting an OT here and there - Guru is going overboard.

I've left him a message - I haven't seen all the stuff you're talking about.

And - no - we don't have to argue over this - I made the mistake of calling a friend out here - Matt - when I was really disappointed about the whole flow of this forum - and I'm not trying to direct this at you.

I sure hope you understand that - I just feel bad the way this is going.
