What the heck... Ebay, no more seller feedback???

I just watched a short video on CNN that stated Ebay is going to change their feedback system so that sellers will no longer be able to leave feedback about buyers... only buyers will be able to leave feedback about sellers.
You have got to be kidding me. Now if someone doesn't pay for an item, they can neg the seller, and the seller can't do anything about it? WTF???

Hopefully that will be rectified.
However the good sellers are saying:
I ship, they claim they didn't recieve, I get hosed, leave negative feedback and thieving buyer leaves same and he has my money and card!

When I sell, there's no way I could possibly block every person that has had a NPB. Especially given the end of auction sniping that goes on. For sellers, EBAY will remove the negs from Non Paying Bidders. They also will end up NARUing repeat NPB offenders which will clean bad id's out of the system (and generate new user id's I guess) I have heard that sellers are going to use false positives or maybe even neutrals on buyers that don't pay.
There is a tool from toolhaus.org that will help keep track of false positives for you.

Not if you insured the shipment or at least use delivery confirmation. If that happened to me, I would simply reply with the delivery confirmation information right next to the feedback to show potential bidders that it was in fact delivered. In a perfect world, EBAY would delete the feedback, but I wouldn't count on it.

<< <i>I think this rule sucks. I have 870 feedback at 100%. I give good feedback to the buyers who gives me a quick payment on items I sell. EBAY is really screwing things up. >>
Then you should have nothing to worry about. This new rule is not going to affect good sellers that are honest and ship in a timely manner. There are many sellers that deserve negative feedbacks but never get them because of the fear of the retalitory neg. Now, as a buyer, when a seller really screws up, forgets to ship a card, says mint and I get a creased card, etc. I can leave the neg and not fear the retalitory.

as i defiantly agree with what your saying about how sellers that have deserved negs but aren't getting them b/c a buyer is afraid of the retaliation - inst this swing in feedback power also going to generate a new power crazy feel with some buyers who are going to start dropping negs for every little thing as well ? also i see alot of case developing where a buyer is going to hold that potential neg over a sellers head trying to get something out of the seller they aren't entitled to

I think you'll see a big change in the way feedback is left by buyers - THAT WILL LEAD TO MORE ACCURATE ACCOUNTING OF THEIR TRUE SATISFACTION WITH THE TRANSACTION!
Other than the current system of well, I got it late and in a plain white envelope, but its not worth the hassle of leaving a neg or neutral and risking a neg coming back my way.
Last month I paid for an item w/FedEx shipping -and it came FedEx - 3 weeks after I paid for the item via paypal! So I leave the guy a "neutral" - so he negs me and demands that I withdraw the feedback. I think that this is exactly the kind of practice Ebay is looking to put an end to.

How about this......When I started on EBAY, I was in the market for buying alot of items that I need. When I send my payments in a timely matter and get alot of good feedbacks from the Sellers and this is how my feedback was piling up. So how is someone who just joined EBAY who is looking to buy and not really sell?? How is this buyer going to get his feedback built up if the seller's can't leave feedback? Some EBAY sellers won't do business with you unless you have a certain number of good feedbacks on your profile. I just sold a 1955 Bowman PSA card on EBAY today to a first time buyer with 0 feedback. Now this first time buyer won't be able to get his first good feedback from a seller, again I think the rule sucks.

great point!
i know i would have left more negative feedback for certain sellers (instead of the neutral)
i know this 1 seller who calls everything mint, but all cards are damaged, then she says, oh i didnt notice that bent corner..yeah right you didnt notice...
Sure they can. EBAY will still let a seller give positive feedback. That hasn't changed. They simply can't neg buyers.

<< <i>I'm actually starting to like this change. Maybe I've just been lucky, but I suspect that deadbeat bidders have been much less of a problem for me than sellers who overgrade or who are blatant shipping profiteers but who still have stellar feedback because their winning bidders are too apprehensive about leaving warranted neutrals or negatives out of fear of reprisals. I'm typically not a half-full kind of guy, but I think this move could compel sellers to improve service, as they're no longer shielded by the stupid feedback games and tit-for-tat that seem to plague the current system. >>
Agreed. I hate being held hostage by feedback knowing that I almost always leave it first. If I leave positive, then I know I'll get it in return. It sucks that way and has scared me off from leaving neutral and negs when the seller deserves.
Dealing with right now on a Murray card I bought 4+ weeks ago. "I sent it" he says. Then a week ago "it'll be in the mail soon". If it wasn't such a tough card to find (1/5 and I doubt I'll see another) I'd neg the dude.
