Shaq is apparently going to be traded to the Phoenix Suns, what do you think of that?

He is apparently in Arizona today undergoing a physical exam by the Suns.

The Heat are to receive Shawn Marion and another player from the Suns, whose name I do not recall.

The Suns may have helped themselves if Shaq suddenly gets healthy and plays effectively. If he does, it would allow the Suns to compete with other Western Conference teams who bang inside. The run and gun game of the Suns may have to be toned down when Shaq is in the game though and that may mess up the Suns' style of play.

If Shaq does not get healthy, then the Suns probably will not benefit from the presence of The Diesel.

  • Jim Rome is ripping the idea this afternoon on ESPN saying Shaq is washed up and finished with nothing much left in the tank and
will not fit in well with the Suns style of play.
  • Not sure this such a great move for the Suns. But if the Matrix wanted out, maybe it was best to deal him.

I hate to agree with Rome, but Shaq does look washed up. Unless he somehow regains the fire and the skills of a few years ago I don't seem it helping the Suns all that much. Time will tell.
  • i dont think it was a terrible trade as some analysts have stated. let's face it...the suns were lacking a big man for a long time...and yes, it would have been nice to see them win with the kind of offense they run, but nash is 34 and grant hill is 36...and as we saw with the kings a few years ago, you've got to make radical moves to match the powers in the west or you'll end up with all your key players retiring, one western final appearance, no ring and doug christie's jock strap. shaq is nowhere near where he was even just 2-3 years ago. but, he's difference maker. if the team simply rests him (i.e. when he gets healthy, play him 20-25 minutes) and then unleash him in the playoffs, they should be a force.

my only big problem with the trade is that just a few days before this trade, the lakers got a younger, more versatile center in gasol for a bag of peanuts...while the suns had to give up a legitimate all star for an aging star.

but, if the suns win a championship and completely fall apart like the heat...suns fans will still be happy and the trade served its purpose.
