<< <i>The storm/tornado thread of last night must have been pulled. Is Ripkenintheminors and the others from that area okay? >>
My family is ok, although a lot of others can't say that today. Unbelievable damage throughout the state. It seems like everywhere that I have called home got hit last night with the exception of where I'm at right now. Still, it's not enjoyable to hear that you have three cells of tornadic activity 11 miles south while also hearing that winds in excess of 100 mph are in the next town.
As a message board Moderator myself for a rather large board I understand that the Admins/Mods make the rules. However, was something said in the thread last night that required an immediate pull? People were dying all around here and people were checking in to see if others were ok.
We missed the worst of it here in Cookeville (Central TN) but there is some real devastation in surrounding ares. Thanks for your concern and please continue to give your thoughts and prayers to everyone around here.

He's ok. He mentioned in the '59 thread that the family is ok, although his house got hit with a hail storm. Apparently he was only 2 miles away from the destruction.
<< <i>geez chris, thats terrible, i know about 3am here in wv it started pouring down the rain and massive winds, but nothing like that >>
I've been through a lot of storms in Tennessee and this brings back some terrible memories from several years ago. Jackson got hammered with a F4 and an F3 in May of 2003. Around a dozen people died that night. For the record, a lot of people died in a tornado strike in Jackson in January of 1999. I remember that in 2003 the Chicago Cubs helped the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx, their AA affiliate at the time. They had a big auction to help the victims. One of the items auction was the giant metal sign that once stood in front of the park. It was mangled in the storm and the team signed it.
Either way it's been a rough night and morning. Hopefully all of my friends and loved ones are ok. Although I didn't attend Union University, I'm very familiar with the school and campus as they were our rival at freed Hardeman University. It's a great area there in north Jackson. I can't imagine what those kids are going through.
Thanks for the well wishes, thoughts and prayers. They're very comforting.
I mentioned the storms of '03 earlier. In the destruction of '03, my ISP based in Jackson was put out of service. With that being said, I wasn't able to communiate through the internet for days. When I was able to log back on, I had alot of messages of concern from a lot of friends in the online world.
On another note, I just got a call from a family where I serve. They informed me that someone in their immediate family had their home destroyed last night not too far from here. Everyone was ok, but the house essentially fell on them while they were in the basement.
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts
Thanks to everyone for their concern, As Chris mentioned we lived roughly two miles from the main path the tornado took last nite. Other than some Baseball sized hail hitting our house we are all fine, What a Night ! I'm glad it's over !
Have no idea why the thread was pulled. The only posts were regarding the storm itself
In any case, I survived all three tornado warnings, but got kind of lucky as here in Dickson, about 40 miles west of Nashville, there were homes destroyed not too far from here by straight line winds/tornadoes
I think a lot of you have probably seen the pics of the University that was hit last nite, That is about a mile and a half south of us. We were in the hall with all the couch cushions and mattress over us,praying. The hail sounded like someone was hitting the house with small melons, our electricity was off all nite. I need some sleep ! Glad to hear everyone here is ok.

A little hairy last night here in Spring Hill, TN, which is 20 minutes South of Nashville, but everyone seems to be ok today. My prayers for those in Jackson.
i just arrived in our memphis office (started to send tennbanker a pm while i was in traffic) jackson was a disaster from what i saw on the interstate...unbelievable. it's like a tornado went down the interstate, trees everywhere, rest area smothered with debris/trees, semi's turned over left and right...
Thanks,

I would just like to extend my sympathy for those affected by this really sad event and say a prayer for the friends and families who've lost loved ones and wish them well for a speedy recovery in their area.
Seems like we spent half the night watching tv radar of storm cells headed to our part of Nashville. From all the destruction, it looks as though the storms pulverized areas west of here, pretty much jumped over Nashville and then did it again once they got past the far north/northeast sides of the metro area.
We're in Memphis and luckily we're ok and so are family and friends..Not everyone was so fortunate though. Very very sad day for many people in these parts.
Working on these raw sets: 54 & 55 Bowman 55, 56, 58, & 60 Topps. Have lots of cards, including some PSAs, 53-58 to trade. Also, have Football 55-57 to trade for BB cards.
Local news is saying the storm is going to hit us tonight in MD in a nasty way....TennesseBanker, ldferg & Kiko, my best wishes, hope all is well.

My wife just commented about that. Of course the local news is focusing on all of the destruction that happened over the night. It's amazing that it missed Nashville the way it did.
On another note, I had no clue that there are so many Tennessee folks around here. We need to all meet up at a game once baseball season starts.
<< <i>T-storms came through Knoxville and East TN this morning, but nothing as severe as what the western part of the state got. >>
They hit my part of east TN about 8.30 yesterday morning, and apart from a little lightning and some heavy rain, we really didn't get anything like west TN. They were giving us 'safety plans' at work about where to gather, etc. and we were all hoping the electricity would go out for about 2 hours so they would send us home.
I'm glad that our western members are safe, but feel for those families who lost loved ones or had property damage. The scenes on the news show a lot of devastation out west.
