Info on Upcoming Re-Issue of Whitman Blue FOLDERS

I just confirmed with a contact at Whitman Co that, this March, they will be re-issuing 12 different Canadian blue coin folders for selected denominations at $2.99 each.

I am happy they are re-manufacturing them, and now I can consolidate what I have in a fewer number of updated folders, but it's disappointing they are only issuing selected denominations..................

They WILL issue the following:

Large Cents 1858-1920
Small Cents Vol. 1 & Vol 2 (no date ranges given)
25 Cents Vols I thru V (no date ranges given)
Dollars Vols I thru IV (no date ranges given)

Unfortunately, there's no sign of their issuing any of the following:
Nickels
Dimes
Halves
Loonies?
Twonies

Bit at least it's a bit of a start......................................

I have the flyer they sent saved on my hard drive - - can I attach an Adobe Acrobat doc here?

Samples just came in to the Whitman offices in Atlanta this afternoon --- and they look beautiful. You're going to be pleased!

It's a good start. If the Brit folders come back, then it'll be a great development.

I am leery of Whitman folders after I pulled out my sets of Jefferson nickels and clad dollars (Ikes and Susies). They'd all corroded around the edges, with the corrosion eating into the rims of the coins. Possibly it was due to storage in a humid climate (they've been indoors the entire time they were owned - 10+ years - though I can't vouch for the humidity during several moves) - but even so, that was severe damage. I ended up spending them for face, as all collector value was destroyed. I won't use the blue folders again.

Sounds like exposure to the humid climate.

And yet it was only along the edges of the coins where they directly contacted the cardboard of the folder. I don't think that the brief climate shifts would have damaged the coins had they not been in the folders.

I have had TONS of coins in Whitman folders with never a problem. Now Dansco is a different story.
