Gold Wilson Dollar PCGS AU58 value - opinions please

I have a line (private) to an NGC AU58 Gold Wilson. Anyone care to give me a price opinion?
Got any sales history you can give me, or refer me to?
Thanks!

  • Thanks jetblack - good info.
NGC has apparently certified 3 including the MS61 at Stacks and this one AU58.
I saw one at the Denver ANA at booth# 343 (lost my directory, but will be asking ANA), raw coin.

Last one sold on eBay for $650. Sounds like the same coin. I would pay up to $700 for this coin.

Nah, that's the silver version. The gold version, even in AU, is a five figure coin.

I believe a MS example sold at auction earlier this year for something like $80k. The total mintage figure is probably less than 10.

YOu are correct, I thought you were referring to the silver version. I believe Heritage will be auctioning a gold version tomorrow.

Do you have any idea what the copper version in a NGC 58RB would be worth?

Maybe $400 or so, depending on eye appeal. The coppers have a slightly higher mintage figure than the silvers, but sometimes command a premium since they're harder to come by in higher grades (especially in full red).

Prices for the silver and bronze versions sure have gone up in the past 5 years! I should have bought them when I had the chance. I guess I'll have to be content with the sea-salvaged silver version I bought for $35. image
