Does it ever pay to be nice?

I think I know why I have high blood pressure.

Ebay Buyer

<< <i> WENT TO PAY FOR THIS AND IT SAYS THAT THE SHIPPING IS $6. THAT CANT BE RIGHT FOR ONLY 98 CARDS. CAN YOU SEND ME A NEW INVOICE WITH THE RIGHT S&H SO I CAN PAY FOR THIS. THANKS >>

Me

<< <i>The auction stated $6 for USPS Priority Mail. Each card is in a penny sleeve and they are split into groups of 20 cards each with cardboard on each side to keep them free from damage. If you don't want me to do that just let me know how you would like them shipped and what you would like it to cost. I will do so and adjust the ship charge accordingly. Just keep in mind that I don't want to be responsible for damage to the cards when they are shipped in a less protective manner. >>

Ebay Buyer

<< <i>YOU CAN KEEP THE CARDS AS THEY ARE BUT IF YOU SHIP THEM FIRST CLASS MAIL IT WILL BE CHEAPER. JUST PUT THEM IN A BOX LIKE YOU ALREADY HAVE THEM AND THEN GO TO THE POST OFFICE. THEY CHARGE YOU BY WIEGHT. FOR SOME REASON PRIORITY IS MORE EXPENSIVE. THE CARDS WONT GET DAMAGED AS LONG AS THE ARE SECURED IN THE BOX. FROM WHAT YOU SAID ITS SEEMS YOU HAVE THE PACKAGED PRETTY SECURELY. I DONT MEAN TO BE PICKY ABOUT THE PRICE BUT ITS JUST THAT $6 FOR ONLY 98 CARDS IS A LOT FOR SHIPPING. I ONLY HAD TO PAY $7.99 WHEN I SHIPPED OUT 2 1986 TOPPS COMPLETE SETS. THAT ALMOST 800 CARDS. IF YOU COULD SHIP IT THAT WAY THAT WOULD BE FINE. I DONT WANT INSURANCE SO I WONT HOLD YOU RESPONSIBLE IF THEY GET DAMAGED. LET ME KNOW WHAT IT WILL COST TO SHIP IT THAT WAY AND ILL SEND YOU THE PAYMENT RIGHT AWAY THROUGH PAYPAL. THANKS >>

Me

<< <i>The box weighs 15 ounces and costs ten cents less than priority mail to ship. The package will be in the mail tomorrow your tracking number is 420 19001 9101 0385 5574 9275 XXXX XX. You can just pay me the $4.77 for the auction I will absorb the shipping costs. >>

I sent it priority and don't expect to even get the auction amount. I think it's worth the price to not have to get another email.

He shipped two complete sets out for 8 bucks? Either he shipped them parcel post or he shipped them media mail. I'm glad this
doesn't happen to me, it just aint worth it.

He probably stuffed two sets into a priority flat rate box back when it was $7.99.

OP, I think you handled it the smart way. Just keep this transaction in mind next time you consider listing low dollar stuff. The consensus here is those buyers are the worst!

If you just threw it in a box and used 1st class mail it would be at least 4 or 5 dollars so what was this guy thinking? I like the priority mail cuz it allows us to use their boxes etc. I'd tell the guy to re read the auction, see how it stated 6.00 for priority mail and that I do not appreciate him telling me how to run my business.

    Good for you.

Good grief - there are plenty of sellers out there that charge $3-4 to ship one card, plus .50 or so for each additional. $6 sounds like a freakin' bargain for 96 cards by today's standards. Penny sleeves and cardboard wrapped for each 20-card block to boot? Some people.
  • Just imagine what will happen when the new feedback policy kicks in and buyers like that creep can neg with impunity.

What new feedback policy? You got a link?

Can you give us the guys user id so anybody who wants can block him, lol. I hate when people do that, expecialy when you have left them feedback first. I think you did the right thing to get him out of the way and move on, because, afater all, a few dollars is not worth high blood pressure right?

I would just block him from bidding again and move on the better things, thats all image

  • its going to be more important than ever to have a BLOCKED BIDDER list that we can update with these clowns.

the new feedback system is gonna blow baby.
  • I did get my $4.77 this morning, but also another pearl from this guy.

You guys are absolute slaves to the feedback.

I would have said you have 7 days to honor your contract or a neg will be left
and FVF will be requested from eBay.

I truest future buyers to review any negs i get and make there own decision.

    Loves me some shiny!
  • I feel the same way about it. He bid he should honor it.

MANY buyers currently think that sellers CANNOT leave FB.
Those buyers read the announcement last week, and thought
the new scheme had already started. They are NOW complaining
to EBAY that sellers have left NEGs for them.

We're all doomed in the coming months.
Buyers are going to complain about anything
even if it's realistic to us sellers. $3 shipping is going to
be too much. $2 shipping is still too much. 7 days to receive
their product is too long. There's a little scratch on the PSA holder.
    The list will be endless.

Exactly. What's the problem? Make the guy live up to the bargain. If he negs you for it, oh well.

    "What's the problem?"

    ////////////////////////////////////////////

Starting in May, sellers' place in search results AND their fees
will be based upon the rantings of PSYCHOTIC buyers and
    CRIMINAL scamsters.

That really is the only problem.
