So, my cable goes out two minutes before kickoff

And I am having a Super Bowl party. So, we gotta watch the dam game on my rabbit ears. Service returned about three minutes ago. AFTER the game is done.

Time Warner is going to pay, and pay dearly.

that sucks troy, last 5 minutes was only exciting part-1st half sleeper - tom petty was best part of 1st halfimage
  • i agree, you didnt miss much.
only the last 5 minutes had any real drama.

    pats looked OLD and tired.
  • The HD broadcast didn't come in for the entire game here.

  • << <i>that sucks troy, last 5 minutes was only exciting part-1st half sleeper - tom petty was best part of 1st halfimage >>

Petty was good, but he really is beginning to show his age. It seems like ever since the Wardrobe malfunction, the Super Bowl coordinators are looking for acts who are members of AARP and drawing Social Security checks.

  • I agree, Tom Petty looks like he's ready for the retirement home. When is the last time he had a hit ? 20 years ?
  • hmm. tom petty or some ass-clown lip syncher like brittany or shakira.... dont care how old he is, he can still rock image still sounds the same, still plays good music.

How is Time Warner going to pay? Im sure they have you in a long term contract. Many they will offer you some free HBO or something...
its kinda like asking UD to come through on a redemption.

where are the bands I want to see? where is Rage? Red Hot Chili Peppers? Radiohead? Incubus? Metallica? Modest Mouse? Pearl Jam? DMB? Dragonforce? Or if you are playing towards the 50 year old crowd, at least give me Elton, Clapton, Jeff Beck, or hell Zeppelin if they could get 'em. It's like they dont know what I want to hear!

Cable company will refund you 23 cents.

    Sorry it happened.

    Good for you.

Yep. They will give you your monthly rate pro-rated for 4 hours. Maybe a quarter if you are lucky.

My comcast was fine throughout the game, but the Hi-def video suffered periods of brief pixelation throughout the game. Not enough to drop sound, but real annoying.
  • FavreFan1971FavreFan1971 Posts: 3,103 ✭✭✭
That is the offer they made me. Give me a refund of the time.

What about the $500 worth of food and beverage that I bought. Half of it is going to wast because people left and when to my neighbor who had the dish. I ended up watching it on the rabbit ears because my daughter was sleeping and I was not going to wake her up to go next door.

It comes down to Time Warner is going to compensate me by discounting my rate for an extended period of time. I won't settle for anything less.
  • hey carew, bite me image seriously. The truth hurts.

the pats OL looked very OLD and very tired. how many times did Brady get sacked, touched, roughed up or hurried.

It cost them the game. Also the lack of any sort of confidence in the Pats kicker.

I don't think so, only thing you can do is drop them as your provider.

Yep that's about all you will get out of them. Threaten to drop the service if they don't make good, drop your service, or chump out. Their contract with you specifically states what they will reimburse you for time of lost service, so I don't think you have any legal recourse.

Never said I will take legal action at all. I will drop them if they don't discount me significantly for this.

    troy,

tell tw that if they dont do better you will be getting a dish like your neighbor. i have DirectTV with NFL sunday package as you know i live down in bear land. the only time i have had service problems is with big storms. and when that large very dark cloud pass you get the feed right away. if you get one have it installed where you can reach it, as in our climate snow can accumulate and block the signal. a quick wipe gets it right back.

  • A few years ago Kansas was playing Syracuse in the NCAA Championship game.
Fifteen minutes before the game, the electricity goes out. I am in rural Missouri,
just north of the Missouri River. I call my BIL across the river to see if he has electricity,
he says, "Sure, come on over." So I get to the bridge, and the cops have it shut down.
Some moron has crashed into the pole next to the road, and the power line is
sparking away in the middle of the road right in front of the bridge. The next closest
bridge is 25 miles away, so as I turn around to go back to my candle-lit home, I secretly
hope that the errant motorist is severely injured. I will be spending some time in hell for
that one. I end up watching the game on a battery-powered two-inch black and white
handheld Sony TV. Naturally KU lost. That day really sucked.

How does the fact that your cable went out mean that half the food you bought is going to waste?

You do have an ice box?

You sound very angry (justifiably so) yet at the same time you also sound silly.

They don't care that you bought food for a party. Best thing you can do is call them up, speak to someone that can actually do something and threaten to cancel the service. The best that person can do is give you 1 months free service I would imagine (if that)

If it was me I'd just start eating.

    Steve

    Good for you.

  • << <i>Did they tell you the reason your cable went off? >>

Yeah, Direct TV gave lots of Cable customers viruses because the knew the big was on, so they would switch to direct tv. image

Silly? Put this in your pipe and smoke it Steve. Time Warner just got off the phone with my and I got three months free. That will cover the food and then some. But, before I accepted I scheduled Direct TV to come by and do a site survey. The survey is on Thursday afternoon.

Oh GOD does anyone ever read an entire post before shooting off there mouths.

I tried to give you some good advice. I'm sorry I hurt your feelings.

    sheesh

You have to admit some of what you said was SILLY! You blamed them for food wasting for god sakes.

BTW I am smoking a nice cigar.

I am glad you know feel better over what happened.

DirecTV is a big, stupid, uncaring, and typical American a**hole corporation, too, but at least the service doesn't go out as much as it does on cable.
  • My advice would be to move out of that pathetic state. You don't know it, but you are living twenty years behind everyone else. You'll see once you move away. Maybe the problem is that you have a TV that has Rabbit Ears! Who has Rabbit Ears? Did they stop making those like 20 years ago?
  • I've never had any problems with DirecTV. I finally upgraded to a DVR and love it.

As far as the comments about food at the SB party, unless the guests brought their own food I'd be ill as well. People spend a lot of money for having guests over. That would stink to buy a lot of food and have nobody stay at the house to eat it since the game isn't on.
