There are no punters in the HOF. There are also only two placekickers (George Blanda and Jan Stenerud) in the Hall.

Interesting note...I was just looking at the "by position" list of HOFers on the Pro Football Hall of Fame's official website, and noticed that Marshall Goldberg, Randy Gradishar, Randall McDaniel, Richard Dent, Derrick Thomas and and Cris Carter are listedimage Sounds like somebody jumped the gun!!!!!image

Blanda was more than a placekicker.

He was a decent QB too, especially when leading the Oilers to two AFL championships.

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

Blanda definitely was more than just a placekicker...it was incredible the way he'd come in in relief of Lamonica or Stabler and the team would never miss a beatimage (spoken as a life-long Charger fan and unabashed Raider Hater). All I meant by my earlier post was that Blanda and Stenerud are the only HOFers I could think of who made "significant" contributions as placekickers (although in typing this post, I realized I forgot Lou Groza in my earlier oneimage )

    Art Monk
    Darrell Green
    Gary Zimmerman
    Emmitt Thomas
    Andre Tippett
    Fred Dean

Why wasn't Chris Carter inducted? Granted, it was his first year of eligability, but c'mon!

Oddly, the list of those not selected seems to trump those who were (overall). For example:

Derrick Thomas > Andre Tippett (still scratching my head wondering how Tippett got in...nice player but HOF?)

    Cris Carter = Art Monk

    Richard Dent > Fred Dean

Darrell Green deserves it without question.

Of the rest, you can argue that Tagliabue and Guy would've made up a stronger class than Zimmerman or Thomas. Seems like the committee reached back to grab Thomas before a strong class comes up next year.
