  • So what do you guys think?

Should I buy this bad boy, and sell it with Mastro for a few grand or what? image

I've seen a few lower level Baseball guys selling for about 1K or so, so I would think Mikan would not be a bad investment.

Is there a COA with the piece? If not, how can you be sure the auto is real?

Save your money and buy a PSA 7 or higher 1948 Bowman card. A much better investment.

Mikans 1948 Bowman is still undervalued. I had to laugh that in the same ebay listing someone is selling a CSA 48 Bowman Mikan card graded 8. I would have had it graded by a current big 2 grading service unless something is not right about the card. Its over 500.00 now and its a private listing....I do like that postcard too..who knows if its overpriced...if you like it buy it

You mean like you didn't do with the menko?

    Good for you.
  • agree with the comment about the "COA". A GPC is a USPS postcard, a pre-printed postcard with the stamp embossed on the postcard. Folks would mail the postcard in an envelope to players and ask them to sign it and return the postcard which had the pre-paid postage. Sort of like a self addressed stamped envelope. They are plentiful but not sure how many Mikans are floating around.

exactly right, the best part about them was they would come with a postmark dating it with location. It's a lot easier to believe a signature is authentic when you see it was mailed from where the player was and when he was playing.

The seller seems to educated, judging by his other items. I think he knows what he has an put a fair value on it.

    Hey John,

That is Richard Albershiem's ebay account. He is very well respected in the autograph industry. I am not sure about his basketball autos, but all of the football autos he has for sale are overpriced. I doubt you could make any money off it.

    Hey Reese,

LOL, I was just kidding, I wasen't really gona get it, if I did want it, I would have snipped it by now! image

It sure is a great looking card, or whatever it is, but i'm a autographed card collector, so all that other autographed stuff dosen't really catch my attention. Basicly, I only have one wife, all the other girls can keep calling me, I won't go for it! image

    Giovanni

Edited to say: Actualy, i'm a major company certified autographed card collector. I will only get an auto of a player that dosen't have a certified auto, or has very few of them. Mikan on the other hand has certified autos, and I have pleanty of them, actualy 4 to be exact.

Cool, didn't realize you were kidding. It is a nice Mikan signature though.

I didn't take into account those Baseball players with this similar postcard didn't have to many autographed cards, lol. Mikan does have certified auto cards, so I don't think those 1K 2K prices apply to him.

Yeah, its still a great looking signture, but to bad its not a card. I asked the guy what size it was, but he never got back to me. I like cards the standard size, it makes no sense to me if a card is bigger than the standard size, then I don't consider it a card anymore. You know how they come out with those jumbo cards and all that, I think thats bumb, they should stick to standard sized cards.

What makes you think this postcard would sell for thousands?

You also thought the disc would too.

now back to the menko that you now say you paid less then 129.00

You told me and another party 1500.00 if I recall.

So you were either BS then or now.

    Which is it.

    Steve
    Good for you.

Hey, I thought wrong with the Menko, what can I say, but I surely didn't lose out any money, I paid $105. Thats what I paid for it, so thats what I told anybody who asked how much I paid for it. You must have recalled wrong??? No reason to BS, now or then. I made 500 bucks profit after all fees, so theres no BS what so ever.

I'm not in it to lose money when I buy something to resale, so I pretty much know what i'm doing. I was just asking open minded board members what they think, thats all. I know what I think, but just wanted to hear what other board members think. Something wrong with that? image

I'm allowed to think wrong, right? I didn't think to wrong, because after all I did make 500 bucks. I just. I just thought I was gona make 3 to 4 times more than that, but hey, what can you do? Thats why i'm not going with Matronet anymore, lol.

    Take care!

    Johhny

You did tell another person the same thing......

however, I was just kidding as well.

Now the reason I made my first post was:

My rational for mentioning my earlier post is someone (a knucklehead) reads your post Johhny and then tries to do exactly what you said. He has no idea that 3 hrs later when told the card is worth basically what the seller is selling it for that you were (lol just kidding).

You did not tell me 105.00 You told me 1500 and you told that other person the same thing. Think back Johnny lest that other person happens upon this thread and backs up what i am saying. He is very credible.

Yes you are allowed to be wrong, me too.

    Steve

    Good for you.

Steve, your something else, lol. image

You or me, or the other guy must have gotten the zeros mixed up! image

That Allen is something else too, he almost made me pee on myself when he said OH SNAP! LOL

Alright guys, it was nice BSin with you, but I gotta go soon image

Johhny the way you were hyping that card in every forum you knew of, and touting its rarity, and how much you thought it was worth (Thousands) all that over a 105.00 dollar purchase?

Methinks thou dost protest a lil too much here.

    Lets both just drop it.

Ok, lets drop it, but one more thing.

If you buy an orginal T206 Honus Wagner on ebay, or an antique store, or wherever, do you think because you got it for a $100 steal, that you shouldn't be able to hype it as much as possible?

Because you paid $50, $100 or $105 for a Wagner, or any other rare card, should you not hype it as a 1000's of dollar card? Becaue you paid cheap, you should exept to sell it for cheap? image

Ok then, lets drop it image
