In The 1953 Topps Priceguide (online) there is a mistake on the names and numbers. Card #345 is Bill Norman. This is correct. Card #252 is listed as Bill Norman. This is incorrect. Card #252 is actually Henry Foiles. Card #253 is listed as Henry Foiles. This is incorrect. Card #253 is a number not issued in the 1953 set. Card #253 is listed in the SMR as a short print - I guess it was a really short print! Set numbered through #280 - only 274 cards in the set. Cards #253,#261,#267,#268,#271 and #275 were not issued. This is the way I find it should be according to the resources I have. Probably won't help anyone that already knows the 53's. REGARDING THE 53 TOPPS SET, YOU ARE CORRECT WITH A MINOR FLAW---
CARD #278 DOES EXIST (MIRANDA)--IT IS #275 THAT DOES NOT EXIST.
I AM TRYING TO COMLETE A 53 TOPPS MASTER SET OF 354 CARDS IN PSA7/PSA8.
THE 80 EXTRA CARDS REFLECT WHITE AND/OR BLACK STATS (BORN,HT., ETC.)ON THE RED BACKGROUND (BACK OF CARD). 75 OF THESE (PRINT RUN 2: #86-#165) HAVE BOTH WHITE AND BLACK DATA (#'s 94,107,131,145,and 156 HAVE WHITE ONLY)
5 CARDS IN THE FIRST #1-#85 HAVE BOTH WHITE AND BLACK (#'s 10,44,61,72, and 81). ALTHOUGH THESE ARE LISTED AS SHORT PRINTS IN THE FIRST, THEY WERE LEFT OUT OF THE FIRST PRINT RUN AND PUT IN PLACE OF THE 5 WHITE ONLYs IN THE SECOND PRINT RUN.
THE FIRST PRINT RUN HAD 2X100-CARD SHEETS--40X3 CARDS (DP) AND 40X2 CARDS, HENCE (SP). TOTAL 200 CARDS
THE SECOND PRINT RUN ALSO 2X100-CARD SHEETS, FIRST RUN WITH BLACK,THEN WHITE STATS-- 10X2 CARDS LEFT OUT OF FIRST PRINT (SP),40X3-CARDS (DP), AND 35X2-CARDS (SP). TOTAL 200 CARDS --NOT INCLUDING #94,107,131,145,and 156). TO BE CONTINUED--
