Latest additions to the MrEureka Collection...

This one's a contemporary counterfeit, the third such piece in the collection.

image

This next one's the best I've had a chance to buy in 15 years. Missing in Eliasberg and Norweb, although neither collection was close to complete.

image

After 15 years of collecting this series, I'm now about 1/3 complete.

Although I've never imaged any of my coins, it's easy enough to grab a few more pictures from the ANR archives...

That is one of my favorite designs of all time, and though I've only owned an 8R, I can imagine the beauty of the gold. Congratulations and you definitely suck!

    Andy,

Congratulations on some really cool coins. However, I think they'd look better in PCGS slabs! :-)

    Beautiful coins!

In addition to the coins, I have a few of the original dies for the Guatemalan issues.

That's a huge bonus. If you find any extra dies from US double dimes laying around, let me know.

You grab a metal detector, I'll grab a shovel, and let's meet in the yard outside the CC Mint!

Very nice, indeed!! What kind of tree is depicted on these coins?
  • Options
    MrEurekaMrEureka Posts: 23,949 ✭✭✭✭✭
The tree is a ceiba, the national tree of Guatemala. It is linked to ancient Mayan religion and thought to be the symbol of the sacred world-tree.

(Copied from the web, of course. I would never have dreamed of writing my own sentence containing the phrase "sacred world-tree".)
