Why 1980?? My 1949 redbook has a nice "traditional set" of Large Cents.

I mean if my reg set has to have the Jefferson heads, a non mint issue and a strawberry leaf Var. 4 known this is going to be difficult. And even if money was not an issue, the coins may not ever exist in PCGS slabs.

Can anyone tell me what var of just the early large cents (1793-1814) are in the 1980 redbook??

thanks,
Mark

They list 3 Chain Cents, 4 Wreath Cents. For Liberty Cap.

    1793 - 1
    1794 - 4
    1795 - 4
    1796 - 1

    Draped Bust

    1796 - 4
    1797 - 4
    1798 - 4
    1799 - 2
    1800 - 3
    1801 - 4
    1802 - 3

And so on ..... (seems like the same varieties that are still listed)

    Doesn't anyone own a 1980 RedBook? I don't have a 1949 edition to reference.

Thanks D55, I must admit I do not have a 1980 book. When is PCGS going to make the changes??

I am not sure what they even list for large cents. I am only missing 5 for my set in a Dansco (97 total coins for the set). It seems to me the Red Book would continue to add varieties as long as they were well known. This does not mean that they were widely collected. Guess it does mean they are widely collected image Everyone should have a Jefferson Cent (4 known) or a 1794 Starred Reverse.
