Redskins make changes on coaching staff - still no head coach

Ashburn, VA (Sports Network) - The Washington Redskins made a series of coaching moves Saturday, naming Greg Blache defensive coordinator and Jim Zorn offensive coordinator.

Simultaneously, the team released former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams and former offensive coordinator Al Saunders. They are the first moves reconfiguring the Redskins coaching staff following the resignation of head coach Joe Gibbs.

Team owner Daniel Snyder said he doesn't plan to hire a new head coach until after the Super Bowl on February 3.

"I want to thank Gregg and Al for all they did for the team," Snyder said. "In particular, during our most difficult time last year, they both helped hold the team together as we kept moving forward. I am confident they will continue to be successful in the years ahead."

Blache has been in the NFL for 21 seasons as a defensive coach, and was the Redskins' defensive coordinator/defensive line coach for the past four seasons.

Zorn comes to Washington from Seattle, where for the past seven seasons he served as quarterbacks coach. He also played 11 NFL seasons as quarterback with the Seahawks, Packers, and Giants.

"Greg Blache is an outstanding coach with deep experience. Players respond to him, and his co-workers respect him. He has our full confidence," Snyder said. "We're counting on Jim to continue (quarterback) Jason Campbell's growth, while moving our offense forward."
