Went to the post office this morning to pick up my package from PSA. I shipped these cards out on 12/31, the last day of the holiday special. Overall, I'm very pleased with the grades, especially the 1978 PSA 10 Rose. image All of these cards were pulled by me from wax and rack packs.

How did you get those back so quickly? Sheesh. I've got stuff sitting there since mid-December and nothing yet.

Congrats on a few nice grades, by the way! image

Thanks, guys! For some reason, it seems that turnaround is faster when all the cards are from the same era, ar least in my experience. My sub did take 10 days after it arrived to be logged in (package was dlvd. 1/4, logged in 1/14), but once it was logged in they made quick work of it. My last few subs have all been very quickly graded, so I'm very thankful for that!

then why do my subs with only favre cards take so long. they are all from the same era?? none of the speculations make any sense that are discussed here other than player specific orders take longer due to odd ball issues. however i dont know why that should be. most will say that its is the research that takes awhile. if so, then why over 10% of my player cards come back mislabled??

It's certainly not a scientific process, but I have found, and have heard from others, too, that cards that are all from a certain issue (say 70s Topps, for example) seem to grade a bit faster than subs with cards from various eras and issues, as PSA has different graders for different eras and issues, it's my understanding. Personally, I'm content to wait as long as it takes as long as the cards are accurately graded, which, by and large, has been the case, in my experiences, at least.

  • That's a great turnaround time. I sent 50 1972 OPC's on 12/18 (logged on 12/28), but PSA will insist that they grade them in the order they're received.

  • Just curious but on the cards that graded 9OC - could they have graded 8 with no qualifier or were they too far OC for 8's? I sent in some cards a while back and requested no qualifers but still got a 9OC in the lot. Thanks - - - Rick
Also - my Dec submission shows to have been recieved 01/14 (I mailed it 01/03 with their verbal consent) - nothing posted yet though I did not expect anything this soon either.

I'd say they were within the guidelines for straight 8s (I've certainly seen straight 8s with worse centering than the ones I submitted), but I've noticed that PSA will assign the 9OC on an otherwise mint to gem mint card, as the centering requirements are tougher for the Mint 9 or Gem Mint 10 grade. For whatever reasonb, I have a tough time with the 79s, though the Gem Mint 10 eased my disappointment over the 9OCs, LOL. I should stick to sending in 78s, but the 79 set is also one of my favorites, even though it is not very popular.

I thought that PSA would automatically drop the grade 1 grade if they could get rid of the qualifier, but that qualifiers were used when the criteria called for a 2 or more grade drop?
I've requested no qualifiers before as well, and the request was ignored. Might help to put a sticker on the cardsaver instead of just writing the instructions on the invoice.
