If you're allergic to latex (as I happen to be), you can buy nitrile gloves. I prefer disposable gloves to cotton, as there are no fibers to find their way into unfortunate places, nor will they pick up dust and dirt (as they're disposed of after each use) which can subsequently come back to haunt you.
Nitrile gloves are available at Sam's club (probably at costco and wally world) for <$10 for a box of 150 gloves.
If you go for latex or nitrile, in any case, look for non-powdered gloves, not the powdered kind.
You can pick up white cotton gloves at Walgreens or any similar pharmacy for a couple bux a pair. I ususally but not always wear a glove or two when handling slabs too.

Latex gloves work great too. They can be purchased at walmart.
