OT eBay/PayPal buyer vs seller 1902-E 1 Mark, I'm ticked!

I think I goofed by paying but I got tired of the phone calls and disputing it with eBay and PayPal. The buy it now was only 9.99 with 2.00 shipping so it isn't like I am talking a fortune here. The auction states PLEASE NOTE: I DO NOT USE NOR ACCEPT EBAY CHECKOUT SO PLEASE WAIT FOR MY INVOICE!!! So I did, and after 5 days I thought what the ??? and clicked on the PayPal button added the 2.00 for USA shipping, hit continue and got this message

<< <i>This seller cannot currently receive payments. >>

OK, now what? I sent an email to the address listed on the auction and heard nothing back. Write one off I thought, I was paying more than the coin was really worth anyhow. Then on Tuesdayy the 22nd when I got home from work I have 6 messages on my answering machine from the seller wanting to know why I have not responded to his emails. Since I got home after 10PM I decided to wait until the next day to call him back at the number he left. I went to bed about 3AM ('bout normal for me) and was then called in to work at 8AM and worked until 9:30PM and once again when I got home I found 4 messages on my machine from the seller and a dispute message from eBay. OK, now I am kinda ticked, but I am beat from no sleep, a long day at work so I showered and went to bed. I was woken at 2AM by the phone and it is the seller. I was really ticked now and after a few minutes of trying to get a word in edge wise I said I tried paying by PayPal and he said he had to send me an invoice before I could use PayPal. OK, so send me an invoice I said and hung up. I got an invoice from a different email address than is on eBay and is not linked to his eBay account. The invoice is for 14.50 and has no details at all... I am guessing 9.99 for the coin, 2.00 shipping, 1.95 for insurance and .54 cents to cover PayPal fees. I reported the auction to eBay and PayPal and voiced my concerns, I called eBay from work and asked about disputing the auction but since I had not paid for the auction I can't complain! What? I was told "You entered into a legally binding contract and you are obligated to purchase the item". image OK, so now I have paid 14.50 for a coin that was over priced at 11.99 and what can I do? NOTHING! If the coin is significantly different than as listed I can file a grievance and then PayPal may do something, the same answer from eBay... SO I GOT SCREWED! I should have just ignored it, taken a non paying bidder from eBay and a NEG from the seller but instead I paid the 14.50 and may still get a NEG from the seller. Sorry! I just had to vent.... What would you have done or what should I have done?

The seller was probably (PROBABLY, i said) waiting for his paypal to become unblocked for some reason or another and that was the reason for the delay in invoice. Or he may use a different paypal address for recieving than the paypal button in the ebay invoice uses. Did you use the address in the invoice he sent to send the payment to? He apparently uses the spam email system and your email scam remover may have removed it so you never saw it.. You did mess up the auction says
PLEASE ENTER MY EMAIL ADDRESS IN TO YOUR SPAM SYSTEM:

    DOCOPP@PRODIGY.NET

********IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE MY INVOICE WITHIN 24 HOURS OF THE END OF THE AUCTION PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM BLOCKER!!*********

You did mess up but still i do not understand all the phone calls in a short period.
This seller may be a member here i am not positive of it though.
You have no complaint about over paying -you pushed the BIN button on your own free will. I will agree that the seller was too fast to neg you. The seller overreacted you could try to work it out and have the negative mutually removed.

Whoops!!! Hey Bob, There have been NO negs left by either of us... The seller said he has had his account infiltrated by 5 different eBay buyers through PayPal and that after they paid; they remitted an accidental payment and got a refund for more than was paid? That is the reason for the different account according to the seller... I entered his email addy (from the eBay auction) after 2 days just in case it was being filtered but I still did not get an email from the seller before being harassed. Yes, I did decide to BIN, but had no idea I was going to have to jump through hoops (and pay more than I thought) in order to buy this coin. I guess I am more upset with myself than anything else, I normally look before leaping. Still waters run deep, or so I am told... If the seller is a member here and I have not heard of any shady business before I am amazed, I read way more posts here than I reply to. Docopp, if you are indeed around, let's work this out and be adults about this little measly transaction and move on with life! It's not the money; it is the idea of thinking one thing and than getting hammered from another side that bothers me... Oh, by the way, that email address above is not the one used for eBay or PayPal...

The meaning of life ? I don't know but I am sure that coins have something to do with it.

I personally know someone that just got their bank account cleared up after it was accessed by someone/somehow via a PayPal transaction. The bank was the entity that did the investigation and cleared him of any wrongdoing, therefore giving him his money back, while PayPal stood by and did nothing. He no longer takes Paypal and I don't blame him.
