Hall of fame for Marge Schott!

I have actually shook hands with Marge Schott. In 1984 I was travelling back to Ohio to see the folks and back in those days when passengers were getting off the plane they would walk by the passengers ready to get on. Being a Reds fan, I was shocked to see Marge getting off the plane. She had just bought the Reds and Vern Rapp was the manager. To her surprise I said Hi, Marge. Basically I thanked her for Buying/saving the Reds for Cincinnati and since at that time Pete Rose was an Expo I suggested that she bring Pete back to Cincy. My quote was" you know Pete will put butts in the seats", as at that time attendance was 10k per. So, I planted the seed in Marge so blame/thank me.

    when an observer mentioned they could not tell the difference between marge & her dog schottzie,
    they were told that marge is the one that smells like booze...
    schottzie is the one that smells like marge...!

    I remember when Marge took over the Reds, she fired the scouts because all they did was sit around watching baseball games.

    Didn't she also once, when Eric Davis got injured and hospitalized on the road, then make him pay for his own plane ticket back to Cincinnati, since she was too cheap to pay for it? (if he hadn't had to be hospitalized, he would have been on the team plane back home) imageimage
