Help me gather the courage to......

Crack my Babe and send it to PSA. I tried sending it in as a crossover with a minimum grade of 5. Obviously, it didn't score. This is my favorite card and I really want it in a PSA holder. I have a fancy case mounted on the wall and it's filled with all PSA slabbed cards except for the Babe. I'm also afraid it might come back graded low and end up devalued. I normally don't worry about what a card is "worth" on the market, but this is such a high $$ card for me.

    Crack it.

Then, take the photo out of this thread; in case any of the
    graders are watching.

It's the actual act of cracking it out that has me scared. I just tested a GAI holder on a Randy Moss autographed card. I got Randy out without any damage but it was a struggle. Way too violent for the Babe.

That part is easy. Just put a hotdog and a beer next to the slab when you go to bed. He'll crack himself out!

Better make that a six pack.

Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

Man, I'll just throw some weiners on the Foreman grill and leave them next to a case of Budweiser. Does he like onions and mustard on his dogs?
  • just send it over. A GAI 4.5 is probably worth about a PSA 3 anyways???
Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!
  • Just throw it in the dumpster.

I honestly feel that it is at least a PSA 4 and possibly a 4.5 or 5. I've seen this card slabbed in a PSA 5 holder that didn't look as good as mine.

Not for the $$$$ I paid for it. It's locked in my display case with land mines surrounding it.

How much did Rube charge for setting that up?

SWEET card by the way image

Send it in the way it is. Ask for a minimum grade. If that fails, then crack it out. GAI slabs are not as easy as PSA ones. What I did when i had to crack one out was to put the slab in a vise, and I then used a hacksaw blade and cut the top off. I then was able to pry the slab apart. Take your time it can be done.

But, like I said I would send it in the forst time still slabbed.

Edited, I just hope it is not trimmed. The right border on second look appears awfully sharp. Still, nice looking card and it deserves to be in a better holder that is for sure.

    Good for you.
