Question - Coin value on a slightly bent coin
I don't have pics of this coin, so I'll tell you what I know about it.
It's a Capped Bust half 1821. It looks really nice (might have an old cleaning job), but it is ever so slightly bent. You can only detect the bend if you put it on a flat surface, and even then it's not easy to see. There are no marks indicating that someone bent the coin with some device. However the wear on the coin is un even. The stars in the 4 o'clock area are worn and don't have details, but the rest of the stars have great detail. The back also have an area that has strange wear but it don't coincide with the wear on the other side.
My question then, is how much would that bend detract from the value, AND how much would the uneven wear knock the grade down. For example, if 90% of the coin is VF or EF condition but that area at 4 o'clock is say F or VG, is that going to knock the grade to F or VG, would would it just command lower money in the VF or EF grade?
I'll try and get pics if I can. I really like the coin in hand, and I'm considering it as part of a trade.
Thanks
