Attn: Lincoln Collectors - Ever wonder what your collection will sell for?

I am happy to report that all 195 of my PCGS lincolns have been sold! Thanks again to those of you on the boards that purchased some of my coins. I kept track of where all of my coins went and it is really cool to see them in such a vast variety of collections here on the boards. There were some really special coins in the batch and a few good friends from these boards ended up with them. image Sure, I did not have a top 5 set, but I really took pride in this collection.

Like many of you, I was always one of those people that used to think about how much my collection would bring if I offered it up for sale (individually of course). Would I take a loss as pops went up and values went down or would I make a little bit of money and come out ahead??? After tallying up every sale and deducting associated auction costs (if not a direct sale), I did walk away with about $1500 more than I paid for them (despite taking an absolute bath on about 1/3 of the memorials). That is the one thing that I should mention…selling off my 66RD wheaties (34' to 58') was MUCH easier than selling my 66, 67 & 68RD memorials. Demand is high for the higher end wheaties…demand seemed very low for the memorials!!! The memorial pops are rising MUCH faster than the wheat pops…that is for sure! Anyway, I just thought some of you lincoln collectors would find some of these prices useful in case you do decide to handle the sale of your set on your own. At least you will have a reference point for 2007-2008.

As for what I am doing now, I am enjoying the hell out of filling a Dansco with lincolns 09-present and I have even drifted off into some nice circulated examples of FE and IHC’s if you can believe that. There is something much more satisfying about being able to touch and feel circulated coins then staring at one thru PCGS plastic! It's always fun to wonder where a coin has been and who might have held it while it was in circulation. I have also created some very cool birth year sets in NGC multi-coin holders for my daughter and I am building a bunch of yearly modern sets in Airtite albums from 2005 on. The only PCGS coins I own right now are PR69DCAM and MS69 SAE's from 2005 to present that I pick up annually for my daughter!

I am also proud to announce that my wife and are due to have our second child on April 15th. This also means that I’ll have one more child to buy coins for and to build a birth year set for! Now I have an excuse to spend twice as much on coins and my wife cannot say a word. image

I hope you all find the following pricing information useful!!!!

    Toby,
Congratulations on your second child arriving in April. image

That was a nice collection you just liquidated. Your coins are now spead out, and have become a part of many collections. Heck, I have four of the TBL coins, and my 63D MS66RD, is one of my favorites. Thanks very much for those beauties!

Always nice to hear from you, and thanks for the info regarding your sale. Someday, when I sell my set, I will probably use the same method as you. Have fun with your current projects. And have fun in Baltimore, this summer.

    Toby,

Very happy to hear you're going to be a Dad again! image

The advice you have kindly shared is worth more to me than the TBL beauties in my set. And that's saying something!

    Best of luck.

I don't wonder too much what it would sell for. I wonder quite a lot if I will ever finish it. I wonder if I'd be happier if I quit and sold.

Yes it is nice to collect ol worn copper AND ms++ coins. I treasure my old whitmans from forty years ago, and in fact still work on it, I just tried filling the 1975 on book from circ, and got most red but few MM's (east coast).

Its too bad we cant hunt circulation for these circ. wheats anymore, ya only need so many 1956's

    LR, you crack me up.

You know, I may be done with slabbed lincolns...but my interest in other small cent series is increasing. It's amazing that I get even more of a thrill from filling holes in Dansco's with circ cents as I did hunting down high-end RD PCGS lincolns and entering their cert #'s in my registry!

I was fortunate enough to meet some very wonderful and generous people on these boards (LR, Watersport, Wheatfanatic, LeeG, BRB, RegistryNut, Wondercoin, Oxy8890 just to name a few) and I plan to stick around to continue learning about lincolns and to educate myself further on FE's and IHC's.

Thanks for the kind words about our 2nd child everyone...if this little one turns out half as wonderful as my daughter, my wife and I have it made. You couldn't offer me any coin in the world to give up this wonderful thing called "fatherhood"...(well, ok, maybe Stewarts 69RD 1919...but you didn't hear that from me) image

    Jaime,
I don't wonder about you at all regarding your Lincoln sets.
I know you will finish your Memorials and your Wheaties. You're young!
And I couldn't imagine you selling your coins. I doubt, very seriously, if that could make you happier.
